The ci poetry in the operas of the Ming Dynasty is valuable and significant to the study of ci and literature of the Ming Dynasty. The research can be carried out from two aspects. The first is the collection and arrangement of the ci works in the operas.219dramatic works of zaju and265dramatic works of chuanqi have been surveyed as well as19works of zaju and178works of chuanqi which have been lost and can only be found in dramatic anthologies. The second is the research from the literature perspective based on the first aspect. It can be carried out from two perspective. First, discuss the literary value of the ci in the operas from the perspective of dramatic structure. Second, investigate the historical significance of the ci in the operas from the perspective of literary history. The research aims to discover the basic features and reveal the existing forms, functions and literary value of ci in the operas.In the introduction, we mainly discuss the research significance and current situation and introduce the range and the methods of the study.The main body of the thesis is divided into three parts. The first part, consists of chapter one and chapter two, aims to discover the basic features of ci in the operas through quantitative analysis and qualitative analysis. The second part consists of chapter three and chapter four and aims to reveal the general discipline and functions of ci in the operas. The third part consists of chapter five and chapter six and aims to investigate the historical significance of the ci in the operas of the Ming Dynasty.
