The better understanding and avoiding of the factors triggering and influencing exacerbation of psoriasis will be contributed to improve the effects of the treatment and disease prevention. A preliminary survey and experimental studies were carried out in this paper on the possible mechanisms, patients and physicians factual knowledge about some factors triggering and influencing exacerbation of psoriasis. The results showed as follows:1. Of the 206 adult psoriatic patients, 31.1% with the family history of psoriasis, 16.5% having alcohol intake, 4.9% infection, 3.4% unsuitable use of some drugs within one month before their condition being deteriorated were found, these related factors being more common man those in other dermatoses (alcohol intake: OR 1.95,95%CI: 1.03-3.7; infection: OR 3.45,95%CI:0.86~16.06; drug: OR 3.59,95%CI:0.67~25.30).0.005%(v/v) ethanol and 0.022μM chloroquine could significantly increase the PHA-driven psoriatic lymphocyte proliferation (P<0.05); However, they had no effect or suppressed lymphocyte proliferation in normal persons.2. One hundred and twenty-two patients with psoriasis completed a questionaire concerning their attitude, knowledge and behavior about the condition. Many patients had gaps in their knowledge of the disease or misconceptions that could be obstacle to effective treatment and prevention. For example, the good mark of answering knowledge questionaire was only 44.7, the score of answering 6 items of triggering and exacerbating factors only 46.3. More than half of patients (54.9%) could not be in compliance with the topical treatment.After health education, the good mark of knowledge questionaire in 32 patients increased from 50.4 to 88.5, the score of answering 6 items of exacerbating factors from 552 to 91.1. The compliance with topical treatment was from 43.7% to 90.6%. Meanwhile, the life quality of the patients was improved.3.
