The main content of the article is discussion on the relation between coronary heart disease (CHD) and five viscera based on the study of CHD (ischemic heart disease)for many years by professor Cao hongxin. Throughout the study on basic theory and clinical observation, it is considered that five viscera is the pathological and physiological basis of CHD, Heart and vessels are the latibulum of CHD and many factors of CHD are all related with five viscera such as predisposing cause, onset, nature and type of CHD.The pathogenesis character of CHD is heart vessels obstruction by phlegm and stasis due to yang vacuity. The main pathological foundation of CHD is cardiac functional insufficiency due to deficiency of both the peetoral-qi and the lung-qi. The one anginal pathomechanism of CHD is stiffness of heart vessels due to depression of liver-energy and stagnation of vital energy and blood stasis. The cardialgia of CHD has close relation with heart vessels obstruction by phlegm and heart vessels deprired of nourishment by insufficiency of blood caused by heart and spleen vacuity. And the palpitation if CHD has relation with heart spirit deprived of nourishment caused by kidney vacuity. It advanced a theoretical system of treating CHD from five viscera.Clinical studies were carried on 1 73 CHD cases by treating with new method of relation to five viscera, and getting a good therapeutic effectiveness. The results show, the theoretical system created by professor Cao that the pathologic process of CHD relating with five viscera is correct and practical. It also has set a function of treatment to CHD based on the differentiation of symptoms and signs of five viscera.
