The body's physiologic rhythm has the the character of Chaos.The heart is one of the most complicated systems of Chaos.HRV(Heart Rate Variability) also has the character of Chaos.It can be used as a window which is able to reflect the body's character of Chaos.The syndromes of TCM(Traditional Chinese Medicine) manifest the body's physiology and pathology.So we start with the syndromic researches of CHD(Coronary Heart Disease),observe the Chaos character which the syndrome of excess and deficiency has,discover the nonlinear character of TCM syndrome,and look for an innovative methology for the research of TCM syndromes.METHODS:We have not only grouped one hundred CHD cases who were respectively diagnosed as MI(Myocardial Infarction),UA(Unstable Angina),and SA(Stable Angina) into the excessive syndrome and the deficient syndrome,but also taken HRV tests and done HRV nonlinear analysis simultaneously.We have respectively researched and compared the nonlinear character of the excessive and deficient syndrome.The indices of observation includes the shapes of HRV Lorenz Pointcare,and the graphic quantized indices which are LA(Long Axlie),SA(Short Axlie),SDl/SD2(width/length),Area, Vector Length index(VLI), Vector angle index(VAI).Besides,we have estimated the nonlinear indices such as Complexity,Approximate Entropy,and Correlation Dimension in the way of mathematical modular arithmetic ;we have also observed the 24-hour various trendencies of Complexity,Approximate Entropy,and Correlation Dimension.RESULT:Among these one hundred cases,there are sixty males and forty females;Theminimum age is thirty-one,the maximum age is eighty-three,and the average age is 60.78±11.78.There are 20 cases diagnosed as SA,25 cases diagnosed as UA,7 cases diagnosedas NSTEMI,and 48 cases diagnosed as STEMI.In these one hundrend cases,eighty-onecases are diagnosed by CAG as Single branch of pathologic changes of the coronaryartery (twenty-four cases) , Two branches of pathologic changes of the coronary artery(seventeen cases) , Multiple branches of pathologic changes of the coronary artery(twenty-nine cases) ,and cases combined with pathologic changes of Left Main Coronary Artery (eleven cases).In the aspect of differentiation of syndromes(Bian Zheng),there are thirty-one cases(31%) belonged to excessive syndrome,twenty-five cases(25%) belonged to deficient syndrome,and forty-four cases(44%) belonged to the mixed syndrome of excess and deficiency.In the group of excessive syndrome,the cases belonged to the syndrome of qi stagnation and blood stasis and the cases belonged to the syndrome of qi stagnation,blood stasis,and phlegm(seventeen cases,54.7%) are more than other cases.The cases belonged to qi stagnation(five cases, 16.1 %) are in the next place.In the group of deficient syndrome,the cases belonged to the deficiency of both qi and yin and the cases belonged to yin deficiency (sixteen cases,64%)are more than others.In the group of mixed syndrome of excess and deficiency,the most common manifestation of deficient syndrome is qi deficiency and/or yin deficiency(forty-three cases,97.7%);the most common manifestation of excessive syndrome is qi stagnation and/or phlegm(forty-two cases,95.4%).The results which are gotten from the different indices:From the graphics of Lorenz Pointcare,there are fifty-five cases which shapes of the graphics look like the baseball club or similar baseball club,twenty-one cases belonged to expanding shape,eighteen cases looked like thin club,four cases looked like shuttle,and two cases belonged to similar rotundity or irregular shape.In the syndromic groups of excess and deficiency,there is no differency in the graphic quantized indices such as the graphic shape,graphic LA,SA,SDl/SD2,Area,VAI,VLI ect.In the aspect of nonlinear parameters,there is no distinct differency between the syndromic groups of excess and deficiency in average Complexity,average Approximate Entropy and average Correlation Dimension of every hour in a whole day.The 24-hours various trendencies of Complexity and Correlation Dimension in the group of excessive syndrome,the group of deficient syndrome,and the mixed syndromic group of excess and deficiency have showed the consistency.That is to say,there are peak values during the time of Chou(from 0:00 to 3:00)and during the time of Xu(from 19:00 to 21:00).In the time of Chou,yin waxes and yang wanes extremely.In the time of Xu(from 19:00 to 21:00) ,yin begins to wax and yang is going to wane.There also has a bottom value in the time of Si and Wu(from 9:00 to 12:00).In the time of Si and Wu(from 9:00 to 12:00),yin wanes and yang waxs extremely.The deficient syndromic group's time when the peak and bottom values appeared is different from the excessive syndromic group's.Generally, the deficient syndromic group's time when the peak and bottom values appeared is 1-3 hours earlier than the excessive syndromic group's.The Complexity,Correlation Dimension and Approximate Entropy of the syndromic groups of excess and deficiency have certain differency in some time.It manifests that the Complexity of the deficient syndromic group is lower than the one of the excessive syndromic group in the time of Chen(from 7:00 to 9:00) and the differency is very noticable.CONCLUSION:①The nonlinear parameters of CHD syndromic group has similar various trendencies during twenty-four hours.In wee hours when yin waxs and yang wanes extremely,and the evening when yin begins to wax and yang is going to wane,the nonlinear parameters rise.It reflects the nonlinear extent of HRV has augumented during these time.In the morning when yang begings to wax,the value of nonlinear parameters drop.It reflects the nonlinear extent of HRV has minished.This result manifests that the 24-hour various trendencies of nonlinear parameters of CHD cases have relevancy to the 24-hour various trendencies of waxing and waning of the body's yin and yang.②In the various trendencies during 24 hours,the time when the nonlinear parameters of the deficient syndromic group get the peak and bottom values is about one to three hours earlier than the one when the nonlinear parameters of the excessive syndromic group get those values, indicated that the day and night various curves of yin and yang is different between the syndromes of excess and deficiency.③From the observation of excessive and deficient syndrome of CHD cases,the 24-hour various trendencies of the nonlinear parameters is an sensitive index in the reflection of the non linear differency of excessive and deficient syndrome.④Because the application of nonlinear methods in TCM is an experiment and exploration now,every index should be refined and observed continuously.
