Healthcare Queuing Model And Referral Strategy Research Based On Markov Model

Medical services are majorlivelihood issues for billions of people. But in China, because of the defects in medical systems, it becomes more and more difficult for people to enjoy the health treatment. Although in some areas, special referral policies are applied, but they all have some limitations so that they cannot be extended throughout the county.In this paper, we study the problem that the public hospital should referral how many postoperative patients to the community hospital. The real problem is transformed into Markov queuing model in order to solve the key performance indicators of the system, including the patient’s average waiting time and hospital resource utilization et al, through the matrix geometry and analytic methods. Then an Arena simulation model is constructed to verify the accuracy of the solution and to analysis the sensitivity of system’s performance indicators. And then we study the referral willingness of public hospital and community hospital respectively, and suggest propal referral policy when hospitals cooperate in different conditions, providing hospitals with guidelines and theoretical basis.At last, an extension research has been studied about the queuing model thinking of the blocked patients, and the comparison with original model has been provided.
