Research PurposeThe theory of PDCA was first used in business management. This theory, the work cycle of quality management was come up by an American expert of quality management, Dr w. Edwards Deming in the early 1950s.The work cycle of quality management which was also named as "Deming cycle" was generally acknowledged as one of the most effective methods of management.Nursing part is an important part of the entire clinical work in a hospital. Nursing quality reflects the level of nursing part in a hospital and the quality of management in a hospital, which is directly related to the lives and health of patients, affects the patients' attitudes towards the nursing service and even plays an important role in the development of a hospital.Quality management is the core of nursing management. Nursing quality management aims to make medical staff improve customers'satisfactory degree to the greatest extent by their professional behaviors. Nursing management in our country is going through a process of transition from empirical management to human-based management, science-oriented management and standardization management. This study put the theory of PDCA into the quality of nursing management; research the role of the theory of PDCA in the operation of nursing skills, the first-aid inventory management, the basic nursing knowledge and the patients'attitude towards nursing service. It helps to explore a road of development in nursing career which fits this region.Research MethodsEmpirical study was arranged in a hospital in Shanxi province. It carries out the PDCA cycle in the quality of nursing management by taking the good chance of upgrading to the level-3A hospital. Empirical study carried out the quality of nursing management by strictly following 4 stages and 8 steps of PDCA cycle. That is to say (P-Plan D-do C-check A-action)in quality management. Eight steps are analyzing the present situation; finding out problems; analyzing the reason and influencing factors; making measures by aiming at the reasons; carrying out the plans and measures made before; checking the results of the plans; summarizing experience; standardization; coming up with the unsolved problems and going into the next PDCA cycle. Control group:Take a secondary hospital dominated by this one will be taken as the paralle control group。The secondary hospital has not carried out the PDCA cycle management. The affect of PDCA cycle management mode in nursing care was studied by relative number. The change of object in intervention group and control group around the intervention was assessed by chi-square test.Results1. Before PDCA intervention, The qualified ratio of the basic nursing skills operation in the intervention group was 87.82%, The qualified ratio of the basic nursing skills operation in the control group was 85.26%. After PDCA intervention,The qualified ratio of the basic nursing skills operation in the intervention group was 100.00%,The qualified ratio of the basic nursing skills operation in the control group was 83.10%; As for the difference in statistics, the qualified ratio before intervention was higher than that after intervention in the intervention group(x2=46.61, P<0.000); There were no differences in statistics compared the control group before intervention with that after intervention (x2=0.23, P=0.634); There were no differences between the intervention group and the control group before PDCA intervention (x2=0.41, P=0.521); As for the difference in statistics, the qualified ratio in the intervention group was higher than in the control group after PDCA intervention (x2=65.95, P<0.000);2. Before PDCA intervention, The qualified ratio of first-aid inventory in good condition in the intervention group was 91.67%, The qualified ratio of first-aid inventory in good condition in the control group was 85.00%. After PDCA intervention,The qualified ratio of first-aid inventory in good condition in the intervention group was 100.00%,The qualified ratio of first-aid inventory in good condition in the control group was 87.50%; As for the difference in statistics, the qualified ratio before intervention was higher than that after intervention in the intervention group (x2=17.60, P=0.000); There were no differences in statistics compared the control group before intervention with that after intervention (x2=0.22, P=0.642); There were no differences in statistics between the intervention group and the control group before PDCA intervention (x2=1.88, P=0.170); As for the difference in statistics, The qualified ratio in the intervention group was higher than in the control group after PDCA intervention (x2=28.25, P<0.000);3. Before PDCA intervention, The qualified ratio of passing the basic theory examination in the intervention group was 88.87%, The qualified ratio of passing the basic theory examination in the control group was 86.26%. After PDCA intervention,The qualified ratio of passing the basic theory examination in the intervention group was 100.00%,The qualified ratio of passing the basic theory examination in the control group was 86.31%; As for the difference in statistics, the qualified ratio before intervention was higher than that after intervention in the intervention group(x2=90.18,P<0.001); There were no differences in statistics compared the control group before intervention with that after intervention (x2=1.61*E-4, P=0.990); There were no differences in statistics between the intervention group and the control group before PDCA intervention (x2=0.69, P=0.408); As for the difference in statistics, the qualified ratio in the intervention group was higher than in the control group after PDCA intervention (x2=115.13, P<0.001);4. Before PDCA intervention, The satisfactory ratio in the intervention group was 87.33%, The satisfactory ratio in the control group was 84.98%. After PDCA intervention,The satisfactory ratio in the intervention group was 93.83%,The satisfactory ratio in the control group was 85.82%; As for the statistical difference, the qualified ratio of satisfactory degree in nursing service before intervention was higher than that after intervention in the intervention group(x2=43.70, P<0.001); There were no differences in statistics compared the control group before intervention with that after intervention(x2=2.49,P=0.115); There were no differences in statistics between the intervention group and the control group before PDCA intervention (x2=0.83, P=0.362); As for the difference in statistics, the qualified ratio in the intervention group was higher than in the control group after PDCA intervention (x2=52.28, P<0.001); ConclusionsAdopting PDCA management can improve the quality of nursing management. After carrying out the PDCA management, the qualified ratio in the operation of basic skills has improved, so has the ratio of first-aid inventory in good condition, the basic theoretical knowledge of nurses and patients'satisfaction towards nursing service.
