The Application Of PDCA Cycle In Quality Management Of Chemotherapy Care Unit And The Effects On The Prevention Of Chemotherapy Induced Phlebitis

Objectives: To study the effects of PDCA cycle on the aspects of improving the nursing quality and reducing the incidence of phlebitis by the application of PDCA cycle in quality Management of chemotherapy care unit. Compare the effects of drugs on the prevention of chemotherapy induced phlebitis based on the PDCA cycle. And provide a scientific basis for clinical practice.Methods:1. Observed the scores on primary care, specialist care, technical operations, and patients'satisfaction of nursing before and after the application of PDCA cycle in quality Management of chemotherapy care unit.2. Compared the happenning of chemotherapy induced phlebitis between the PDCA group and the control group by using PDCA cycle in cancer patients during chemotherapy.3. Under the circumstance of using drugs to prevent chemotherapy induced phlebitis which were based on the PDCA cycle, compared the happenning of chemotherapy induced phlebitis between the PDCA plus drug-prevention group and the control group.Results:1. After finishing three PDCA cycles:â‘ The effect on the quality management of chemotherapy care unit: before PDCA cycle the score of basic care was 93.90 points, after the implementation it was 97.83 points, it had statistical significance (P<0.05). Score of specialist care was 92.40 points before the implementation and 96.00 points after.It had statistical significance (P<0.05). Score of technical operations was 93.03 points before the implementation and 98.13 points after, it had statistical significance (P<0.05).â‘¡Nursing satisfaction: The incidence of nursing satisfaction was 83.6% before PDCA cycle, and 100% after the implementation.2. The effect of PDCA cycle on the incidence of chemotherapy induced phlebitis: the incidence of chemotherapy induced phlebitis was 35% (7/20) in the PDCA group, the incidence of chemotherapy induced phlebitis was 70% (14/20) in the Control group.It had statistical significance (P <0.05).3. Based on the PDCA cycle:â‘ Compared with the control group,the incidence of chemotherapy induced phlebitis was 20%(4/20) in the PDCA plus Hirudoid Group, it had statistical significance (P <0.05).â‘¡Compared with the control group,the incidence of chemotherapy induced phlebitis was 20%(4/20) in the PDCA plus anisodamine group, it had statistical significance (P <0.05).Conclusions:1. It is effective to improve the nursing quality of chemotherapy care unit and raise the level of the nursing manegement by using PDCA cycle in quality management of chemotherapy care unit.2. After the application of PDCA cycle, the quality management of chemotherapy care can be improved and incidence of chemotherapy induced phlebitis can be reduced.3. Based on the PDCA cycle, the incidence of chemotherapy induced phlebitis can be further reduced by the using of drug intervention.
