The bank has a strong internal collectivist atmosphere due to its franchise and historical factors. However, power and resources are concentrated in the hands of the upper management, which is the opposite of the organisational structure, showing an inverted pyramid shape, which makes authoritarian leadership occupy a large proportion of the bank’s management. From the perspective of internal governance, banks have a line system, which means that they are divided into several lines of business according to their business content and product types, with each line continuing to be subdivided into sub-categories;from the perspective of management systems, banks have a hierarchical system, which means there are clear subordinate levels can only report and be accountable to their immediate superiors and cannot report beyond their level. In this context, authoritarian leadership is a large part of the bank’s management.Authoritarian leadership emphasises the authority of the leader, who is goal-oriented and demands that subordinates carry out their orders to the letter. With the rise of Internet finance changing the competitive landscape of the traditional financial industry, the retail-light capital transformation of banks has become an important issue in seeking development. However, the negative effects of authoritarian leadership will undoubtedly affect the advancement of the bank’s strategic goals. This thesis examines the relationship between authoritative leaders and their subordinates’ time-banditry behaviour, and explores the mediation function of employees’ emotional fatigue in the relation of authority leader and employee’s time banditry. This research presents the research hypothesis. It investigates the influence of authoritative leadership on employees’ time banditry and adds the mediating variable of emotional exhaustion to construct the mechanism of authoritative leadership’s influence on employees’ time banditry behaviour, exploring how authoritative leadership’s behaviour triggers employees’ emotional exhaustion and further analysing how it has an impact on employees’ time banditry behaviour. In this thesis Bank A was used as the main survey target, and data were collected through corporate field interview research and the development of a research questionnaire based on established scales from home and abroad. The data collected were analysed by SPSS 27.0 statistical analysis tools to test the mediating role of emotional exhaustion between authoritative leadership and time banditry. From the perspective of view of the theory of resource conservation, this thesis examines the influence of authoritative leadership on emotions and behaviour of employees in the workplace, reveals the mechanism of action of authoritative leadership on employees’ time-banditry behaviour, and provides a new perspective on theories related to authoritative leadership and time banditry. The findings of this research providing a reference for further research on this theory and having certain practical guidance significance for corporate human resource management. |
