At present, the development of the logistics industry still suffers from the problem of "large but not strong" in terms of scale and quality of operation, and digital transformation is the key to solving this problem. The digital transformation of logistics enterprises is based on the application of digital technologies such as artificial intelligence, blockchain, cloud computing and big data, which enable the optimal allocation of logistics resources and the intelligent control of logistics links by empowering all aspects and fields of logistics. In the era of Industry 4.0,digital transformation meets the intrinsic demand of logistics enterprises to reduce costs and increase efficiency, and is also the path to high-quality development of logistics enterprises. Therefore, studying the impact of digital transformation on the performance of logistics enterprises can provide guidance to logistics enterprises in exploring the path to improve their performance and provide effective suggestions for the digital transformation of logistics enterprises. This thesis takes 82 logistics enterprises in the main board market from 2016-2020 as the research object.Firstly, based on a review of the relevant literature, this thesis analyses the mechanism of the impact of digital transformation on corporate performance with the help of theories such as basic resource theory, dynamic capability theory, transaction cost theory and value creation theory.Then,13 representative indicators are selected based on financial data and factor analysis is applied to derive the overall performance of enterprises as the explanatory variables;the vocabulary of digital transformation characteristics is captured from the annual reports of listed enterprises as a measure of the degree of digital transformation, which is used as the explanatory variable.A regression analysis of the degree of digital transformation and enterprise performance was conducted to investigate the relationship between digital transformation and the performance of logistics enterprises, and the robustness of the above findings was tested by replacing core variables, excluding special enterprise samples and lagging core explanatory variables.Secondly, the impact of digital transformation on the performance of logistics enterprises is investigated from the perspectives of cost reduction and efficiency and supply chain integration. Finally, heterogeneity analysis is conducted in terms of ownership, region and firm size. The study found that(1)On the whole, digital transformation has a significant positive impact on the performance of logistics enterprises, and this impact has a time lag.(2)From the perspective of cost reduction and efficiency enhancement, digital transformation cannot improve the performance of logistics enterprises by reducing the costs of their main business, but will increase the costs of their main business in the process of digital transformation;digital transformation can improve the performance of logistics enterprises by reducing management costs and transaction costs.(3)From the perspective of supply chain integration, digital transformation can improve the performance of logistics enterprises by promoting customer concentration.(4)From the perspective of heterogeneity, the impact of digital transformation on the performance of logistics enterprises is heterogeneous in terms of enterprise ownership and region, while the heterogeneity in terms of enterprise size is not obvious.Based on the above findings,in order to promote the development of digital transformation of logistics enterprises, this paper puts forward the following recommendations:(1)strengthen the orientation of digital transformation;(2)increase the construction of digital infrastructure;(3)strengthen the training of digital talents;(4)digital transformation focuses on cost reduction and value creation;(5)digital transformation is oriented to promote supply chain integration;(6)digital transformation is based on the enterprise own characteristics as the basis. |
