The Influence Of Digital Economy On Industrial Agglomeration

With the rapid progress of science and technology,new technological revolution and industrial transformation have begun to emerge.Digital economy has become the key driving force to realize sustainable development in modern society,and has a profound impact on the spatial pattern of China’s economy.On the one hand,the rapid development of digital economy will magnify the technological advantages of some regions,enhance their technological attraction,and have a correlation effect on industrial agglomeration;On the other hand,when the development level of the Internet exceeds a certain threshold,the "Internet diffusion effect" caused by intelligent Internet technology will lead to the transition of some industries from the traditional geographic spatial agglomeration to the virtual space agglomeration of the Internet.Based on this background,on the basis of reviewing the research literature on digital economy and industrial agglomeration,this paper expounds the basic theories on the impact of digital economy on industrial agglomeration at home and abroad,proposes to analyze the mechanism of digital economy on industrial agglomeration,constructs an indicator system for measuring the development level of digital economy in China,and uses the entropy method to measure the industrial agglomeration level in each province.And from different angles to the development of the two conditions and trends of a comprehensive analysis.Furthermore,the spatial spillover and threshold effect models are used to analyze the influence of digital economy on industrial agglomeration,and corresponding countermeasures and suggestions are put forward.The main research contents and conclusions are as follows: First,the literature on digital economy,industrial agglomeration and the relationship between digital economy and industrial agglomeration is reviewed,and a comprehensive analysis shows that there are shortcomings of single research direction and inconsistent research conclusions in the existing research.Secondly,it defines the concepts of digital economy and industrial agglomeration,expounds the basic theories of studying the impact of digital economy on industrial agglomeration at home and abroad,analyzes the mechanism of digital economy affecting industrial agglomeration on this basis,and makes research hypotheses.Then,using the panel data of 30 provinces in China from 2011 to 2020,we construct an index system to measure the development level of China’s digital economy,and use the entropy method to measure the development level of the two,and make a comprehensive analysis of the development status of the two from the perspectives of industry and region.Furthermore,the spatial spillover effect model is used to empirically analyze the influence of digital economy on industrial agglomeration.Based on the construction of spatial weight matrix,the spatial autocorrelation test and robustness test are carried out by the spatial econometric model.At the same time,China is divided into east,middle and west parts for regional heterogeneity analysis.Finally,the threshold effect model is used to empirically test the influence of digital economy on industrial agglomeration.Based on the panel threshold model,the nonlinear characteristics of the influence of digital economy on industrial agglomeration are discussed,and relevant countermeasures and suggestions are put forward.The results show that the development level of digital economy is on the rise,while the industrial agglomeration level is on the decline.The development level of digital economy inhibits local industrial agglomeration and has a positive spillover effect on the industrial agglomeration level of surrounding areas.The influence of the development level of digital economy on industrial agglomeration exists regional heterogeneity.The influence of digital economy development level on industrial agglomeration has nonlinear threshold effect and industry heterogeneity.Based on this,the following suggestions are put forward: Continue to promote the sound development of digital economy in some economically underdeveloped regions,improve the construction of information infrastructure,and help optimize the spatial distribution of industries;Make full use of the online advantages of digital economy to build a virtual platform of industrial agglomeration;We will give full play to the role of digital economy in promoting industrial transformation and upgrading,and further promote the coordinated development of regional economy.
