The integration of urban and rural development and agricultural modernization are two ways to realize the strategy of rural revitalization, and their coupling and coordinated development will be conducive to the flow of urban and rural factors.Based on two aspects of regional agricultural foundation and urban and rural development, this paper takes Gansu,Henan and Shandong provinces on the upper, middle and lower reaches of the Yellow River as the research object, and selects four time nodes in 1990,2000,2010 and 2020 to focus on the research on the level of urban-rural integration development and agricultural modernization level at county level in the three provinces and their coupling coordination degree. The index system of agricultural modernization was constructed from the four aspects of agricultural mechanization, socialization, industrialization and ecology, and the comprehensive index system was constructed from the five aspects of population, economy, society, ecology and space to measure the level of urban-rural integration development. The coupling coordination relationship and spatio-temporal development law of the two were analyzed with the coupling coordination degree model. The influence factors driving the coupling and coordinated development of the two are analyzed by using the geographic detector model. The research shows that:(1)Agricultural modernization and urban-rural integration have strong stage heterogeneity. At the provincial level. The agricultural modernization development of the three provinces has experienced the development stage of "accelerating, stable and accelerating".The average annual growth rate of agricultural modernization level in Gansu,Henan and Shandong is 6.43%,5.24% and 5.05%,respectively.After 1990,Shandong Province took the lead in improving its agricultural level, while Henan and Gansu provinces in the middle and upper reaches lagged behind. In 2010,all provinces achieved balanced development with minimal differences within regions. After 2010,the three provinces entered the stage of rapid development with a year-on-year growth rate of more than 40%.(2)Agricultural modernization shows the characteristics of regional convergence development, and urban-rural integration development shows regional differentiation. From the county level, the speed and level of agricultural modernization development in the northwest of Gansu Province are significantly higher than those in the central and eastern regions, showing the distribution characteristics of higher in the northwest and lower in the southeast. The level of agricultural modernization in the western counties of Henan Province is higher than that in the eastern region, but the growth rate lags behind that in the eastern region, showing a development law of "fast in the east and slow in the west".The level of agricultural modernization in the northeastern coastal counties of Shandong Province has taken the lead in the development, while the development in the western counties is relatively slow.(3)The spatial trends of the three provinces have certain inheritance and convergence.Urban-rural integration, agricultural modernization and coupling and coordination degree show a similar spatial trend in the same period of time. The development of Shandong province is stable in the east-west direction without obvious spatial differentiation, and there is a small frequency fluctuation in the north-south direction. In the east-west direction,Henan Province shows an obvious "U" shape distribution, while in the north-south direction,it shows the characteristics of high in the south and low in the north.Gansu Province has a U-shaped structure of high on both sides and low in the middle, and presents a wavy distribution of high in the west and low in the east in the east-west direction.(4)There are certain regional similarities and differences in the coupling and coordination degrees among the three provinces. The coupling degree of urban-rural integrated development and agricultural modernization is always at a medium and high level, and there is a strong dependence and correlation between the two.The coupling and coordination degree will not change significantly with the improvement of the two levels. The coupling coordination state of the three provinces is between mild incoordination and barely coordination. From the fitting trend line of coupling coordination degree,Gansu Province and Henan Province show obvious normal distribution, while the trend line of coupling coordination degree in Shandong Province shows "M" distribution, and the overall coupling form of Shandong province is better than that of Gansu Province and Henan Province.Through the trend surface,it is found that the coupling and coordinated development level of the western region of the three provinces is relatively high, and the western region has a relatively obvious benign interaction. The spatial directivity of coupling and coordination degrees in Gansu and Henan provinces is obvious, and the spatial difference of counties in Henan and Gansu provinces is significant, and the trend of unbalanced development is obvious. At the county level, the coupling coordination degree of counties in Shandong Province shows a spatial pattern of high in the south and low in the north. From the perspective of coupling and coordination mechanism, agricultural modernization provides core support for urban-rural integrated development. The integrated development of urban and rural areas has become an important support for agricultural modernization through the integration of resources and elements.Agricultural modernization and urban-rural integration complement each other and serve as mutual pulling force and driving force.(5)The factors influencing the coupling coordination of agricultural modernization and urban-rural integration are characterized by diversity,spatio-temporal difference and interaction. In summary, the influencing factors mainly include economic development, land resource allocation, farmers’ income and ecological environment construction.Due to the different development priorities and paths of each province, the influence factors of the upper, middle and lower reaches provinces are different in different periods, and the dominant factors all include the ratio of ecology to production and living space. Before 2010,regional impact factors showed strong interaction, but after 2010,the influence of single factor gradually weakened, and the interaction force of double factor also declined.Based on the above conclusions, suggestions on the coupling and coordinated development of urban-rural integration and agricultural modernization in the three provinces are put forward respectively.
