With the renewal and iteration of information technology, the digital economy is booming and bringing new opportunities for economic development. The digital economy is mainly characterized by digital technology and networked information.Building digital China is an important engine for modernization in the digital era and a powerful support for building new national competitive advantages. To a certain extent, the digital economy has broken the geographical limitations and is the best venue for implementing the innovation-driven development strategy.Grasping the laws of the development of the digital economy, promoting the integration of the digital economy and the real economy, and empowering traditional enterprises to transform and upgrade can provide support for promoting high-quality development. This thesis first introduces the research background and research significance of the digital economy.Combining the general situation of digital economy development in recent years, based on the literature of digital economy concept definition, development measurement and influence factors,we design the digital economy measurement index system from four levels: digital foundation, digital application, digital innovation and digital environment. The main research contents and conclusions of this paper are as follows:The provincial panel data from 2015 to 2021 are used to measure the development level of the digital economy by using principal component analysis, and the comprehensive score of the development level of the digital economy in each region is obtained.Guangdong,Jiangsu,Beijing,Zhejiang,Shanghai, and Shandong are the eastern regions with the highest comprehensive scores for the level of digital economy development, while the western regions such as Inner Mongolia,Tibet,Xinjiang,Ningxia, and Qinghai are the lowest. The digital economy in China’s provinces is generally on the rise. Then, through the spatial correlation analysis of the Moran index,it is found that there are spatial correlations and regional differences in the development of the digital economy.Using the spatial panel error model to study the influencing factors of the development of China’s digital economy, the impact of economic growth, government behavior and human capital on the whole country is the most significant.Further,by establishing different spatial panel models to analyze the factors affecting the development of the digital economy by region, the factors affecting the development of the digital economy in the eastern, central, and western regions are not the same, and there are differences in space.Corresponding measures should be taken according to local conditions to promote the development of the digital economy. It is necessary to vigorously promote economic development, strengthen the construction of policies and systems, and accelerate the deepening of industrial digital transformation.Local governments should increase their attention to the development of the digital economy and seize development opportunities.Reducing the differences in education levels across provinces has allowed the digital economy to move steadily forward in each region.
