Under the new economic normal,China’s traditional foreign trade has continued to decline due to the impact of the international economic downturn, which cause the challenges of declining export growth and low trade profits to China. To reverse this downward trend and improve foreign trade,China is actively promoting the development of the digital economy based on the "Internet+",expanding foreign trade and fostering new trade methods. The integration of the digital economy and foreign trade has brought new opportunities for the development of China’s export trade.Digital technology not only breaks the monolithic approach of traditional trade, but also reduces trade costs, improves trade efficiency and promotes the development of foreign trade. The integration of the digital economy and agricultural trade has provided new opportunities to promote agricultural exports and optimize the structure of agricultural export trade, and the digital technology can help improve the quality of agricultural exports and enhance the competitiveness of China’s agricultural products in the international market. Therefore, this dissertation investigate the impact of the development of the digital economy on China’s agricultural export trade from the theoretical and empirical perspectives.Firstly, the domestic and international literature is reviewed, mainly including the concept of digital economy, the measurement of the level of development of digital economy, agricultural export trade, and the impact of digital economy development on export trade. The digital economy refers to a series of economic activities in which the use of digital knowledge and information is a key factor of production, modern information networks are an important carrier, and the effective use of information and communication technology is an important driving force for efficiency improvement and economic structure optimization, with the following characteristics:First, big data is one of the key resources of the digital economy;Second, industrial integration is one of the key driving forces for the development of the digital economy;Third,Multiple and shared governance is gradually becoming a key governance model for the digital economy.Secondly, the current situation of the development of the digital economy was analyzed, and the scale of China’s digital economy reached 45.5 trillion yuan in 2021,ranking second in the world, but its share in the gross national product(GDP)is relatively low,and there is the problem of unbalanced regional development. An analysis of the current situation of agricultural exports reveals that the following problems exist for China’s agricultural products: 1.the development of the agricultural industry has slowed down;2.China’s agricultural products lack competitive advantages in the international market;3.trade barriers make trade more difficult;4.cross-border logistics and storage are not perfect. Then, starting from the theory of absolute advantage, the theory of comparative advantage, the theory of factor endowment, the theory of economies of scale and other relevant trade theories, the development of the digital economy brings new factors of production and new comparative advantages to international trade, which can promote the development of agricultural products cultivation to scale, mechanization and information technology.Based on trade theories to analyze the theoretical mechanism of the impact of the development of digital economy on agricultural exports, the development of digital economy mainly promotes export trade in terms of reducing trade costs, promoting interconnection, improving product quality, enhancing efficiency and facilitating the participation of small and medium-sized enterprises in international trade. Finally, the entropy value method is used to calculate the digital economy development level index.By comparing the digital economy development level index of each province, the eastern region is in the leading position, while the central and western regions still need to strengthen digital infrastructure construction and increase digital investment to promote the development of digital economy. In the empirical part, this paper selects the panel data of 30 provincial administrative regions in China from 2012 to 2020 as the sample, while dividing the 30 provinces into three regions, namely, the eastern, central and western regions, and establishes a regression model with the digital economy development level index as the explanatory variable and the agricultural export trade volume as the explanatory variable,to conduct a study on the relationship between the digital economy development level and China’s agricultural export trade Research. The empirical results show that the level of digital economy development has a significant role in promoting China’s agricultural export trade, with each increase of 1in the level of digital economy development increasing the value of agricultural export trade by 1.584;as the development of digital economy is influenced by a variety of factors, the regional development is uneven,so its impact on the eastern, central and western regions is also different.Based on the results of theoretical and empirical analysis, this paper makes the following recommendations: 1.strengthen the construction of digital infrastructure and increase the coverage rate of digital infrastructure;2.build a trading platform for agricultural products and use the Internet to promote the development of a new model of "digital economy + agriculture";3.strengthen the construction of professional talents. |
