As the international situation becomes increasingly complex and severe, and the uncertainty of global economic development continues to rise,it is becoming more and more difficult to maintain the sustained and stable growth of foreign trade. However,my country’s foreign trade business can still maintain a high level of development despite the long-term response to the impact of external crises, showing strong export resilience.Exports are one of the troikas that drive economic development, and finding ways to enhance export resilience is gradually becoming a key measure to boost the economy. As a new driving force for my country’s economic growth, the digital economy has played a powerful role in improving export resilience. The application of digital technology has promoted the flow of information, helped export enterprises achieve cost reduction and efficiency increase, and thus lowered the threshold of international trade. Therefore, this study aims to explore the impact of the digital economy on export resilience, and analyze its mechanism in depth,so as to provide theoretical support for improving export resilience and maintaining stable growth of foreign trade. This study first sorts out and reviews the existing literature on digital economy and export resilience, builds a theoretical framework on the impact of digital economy on export resilience based on existing research results, and explores the impact mechanism of the two. Then, based on the macroeconomic panel data of my country’s prefecture-level cities from 2009 to 2017,a two-way fixed effect regression model was established to test the impact of the digital economy on export resilience, and a heterogeneity analysis was performed based on urban characteristics.Robustness, and a mechanism test is carried out on the mechanism effect of technological innovation, trade opening and the adjustment effect of industrial factors. Finally, the threshold effect test is carried out on the non-linear effect of the Internet development scale.Through the above research, this study draws the following conclusions:(1)The digital economy has a significant positive impact on both the resistance and recovery of export resilience.(2)The impact of the digital economy on export resilience has the heterogeneity of urban characteristics. The impact on resistance is stronger in the central and western cities than in the east, and the recovery is stronger in the east than in the midwest. Both are stronger in the north than in the south; The impact of digital economy development level on export resilience of cities is stronger than that of high-level cities;the impact on export resilience of cities with low foreign trade dependence is stronger than that of cities with high dependence.(3)The digital economy can improve export resilience by affecting the two main mechanisms of technological innovation and trade opening.Among industrial factors, manufacturing agglomeration has a negative moderating effect on this impact, and industrial diversification has a positive moderating effect on this impact.(4)The expansion of the scale of Internet development has a non-linear effect on the resilience of exports affected by the digital economy, which is manifested as a double threshold effect. Therefore, this study puts forward policy suggestions such as increasing support for digital economy-related industries, promoting the deep integration of digital economy in traditional industries, promoting balanced development of cities in various regions, and advocating diversified development,so as to promote the positive impact of digital economy on export resilience. |
