Effect Of New-type Urbanization And Rural Revitalization On The Quality Of Economic Growth In The Yangtze River Economic Belt

High-quality development is the primary task of the all-around construction of a modern socialist country,according to the 20 th Party Congress report.With the advent of the new normal of the economy,China’s economy has experienced a significant change from rapid economic growth to high-quality growth.Furthermore,our country is at a critical juncture of development mode transformation and growth driver change at the current stage.It is necessary to overcome the traditional inertia that quantity is considered to be first.More focus on economic growth quality better pushes forward high-quality economic development.The new-type urbanization strategy and rural revitalization strategy are the main strategies implemented by China to achieve socialist modernization in the new era,which are powerful engines for the high-quality development of the economy and society.The report of the twentieth party Congress also highlights the significance of promoting the new-type urbanization strategy and fostering the development of rural revitalization,which will not only help the economy obtain quality improvement effectively and realize quantity growth reasonably but also aims to bring about sustainable development of economy and society.The Yangtze River Economic Belt is an essential region supporting China’s economic development,with advantages in resources,industries,and location.However,there are still some gaps in the development levels of the upper,middle,and lower reaches.So,it has certain theoretical value and practical significance to study the impact of urbanization and rural revitalization on the quality of economic growth in the Yangtze River Economic Belt.It can drive the quality of economic growth and contribute to the coordinated development of upstream,middle and downstream.In this thesis,the Yangtze River Economic Belt region from 2010 to 2020 was the main studying object.Firstly,the new-type urbanization and rural revitalization evaluation index system is established.Secondly,it measures the development level using the TOPSIS gray correlation method and calculates the coordinated development level using the deviation coefficient method.In addition,the SBM directional distance function model is used to evaluate the GTFP,which is used to gauge the quality level of economic growth.Finally,according to the measured level of development results,adopt the panel regression model and spatial Dubin model to study the effect of new-type urbanization,rural revitalization,and the coordinated development between the two on the quality of economic growth.In addition,the nonlinear effects of new-type urbanization and rural revitalization on the quality of economic growth are studied by introducing quadratic terms.The study’s conclusion is as follows:(1)The level of new-type urbanization,rural revitalization,and the coordination of both increases progressively year by year in the Yangtze River Economic Zone.However,the development level of each region varies greatly,and the comprehensive level of the downstream is much higher than the middle and upper reaches.(2)The level of quality economic development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt shows a U-shaped trend.Furthermore,there are large regional differences(downstream > midstream > upstream).(3)There is a nonlinear effect of new-type urbanization and rural revitalization on the economic growth quality,which is characterized by the U-shaped effect of first inhibiting and then promoting.And after2012,the effect of the new-type urbanization and rural rejuvenation in the Yangtze River Economic Belt on the quality of economic development is on the right side of the“U” curve.It shows that at this stage,the new-type urbanization and rural rejuvenation of the Yangtze River Economic Belt can effectively promote the improvement of the quality of economic growth.(4)In addition,there are apparent spatial spillover effects for the development of new-type urbanization,and it has a more visible positive impact on promoting the development of the economic quality in the surrounding regions.However,there is no space spillover effect of rural revitalization,which means that rural revitalization has not contributed to the development of economic quality in the neighboring regions.(5)The collaborative development of new-type urbanization and rural revitalization not only has a catalytic impact on the high-quality development of the economy but also has an apparent spatial spillover effect.According to the findings of this thesis,the last part of the thesis provides policy advice from the perspective of new-type urbanization,rural rejuvenation,and the coordinated development of the two to bring new ideas for achieving the improvement of economic quality in the Yangtze River belt.
