With the accelerated promotion of Chinese two development strategies of new urbanization and rural revitalization,China has made remarkable achievements in urban and rural development, but the problem of backward rural development in China still exists, and the conditions of rural development have not been improved significantly. The problem of unbalanced urban and rural development and the problems of the "agriculture, rural areas and farmers" are still major development problems in China.Based on this background, this thesis compares the relevant research literature on new urbanization and rural revitalization, and discusses the inner mechanism of new urbanization affecting rural revitalization from the perspective of demand and supply side, concluding that rural development can be linked and complemented with urban development through the driving effect of new urbanization, and efficiently promote rural revitalization. The article further uses econometric models for econometric analysis, and the main conclusions obtained from the study are as follows.Firstly, the article takes national provincial-level panel data from 2011 to 2020 as the basis of the research, constructs comprehensive evaluation index system of new urbanization and rural revitalization containing a three-level system, and quantifies the comprehensive level of new urbanization and rural revitalization using the entropy weight method. The spatial and temporal analysis of the quantified results shows that new urbanization and rural revitalization in China both show a stable and improving development trend year by year, and the new urbanization level shows the spatial characteristics of "high in the east and low in the west",while the rural revitalization level shows the spatial characteristics of "high in the east, high in the middle and low in the west",new urbanization and rural revitalization both show a strong spatial agglomeration. However,on the whole, the comprehensive level of rural revitalization is lower than the comprehensive level of new urbanization, and the development of urban and rural areas is unbalanced,so there is still a lot of room for development for both.Secondly, the article uses the classical panel multiple regression model to deeply explore the impact of new urbanization on rural revitalization. The empirical results of the national total sample show that after adding all the control variables, the regression coefficient of the impact of new urbanization on rural revitalization is 0.275,which passes the 1% significance level test, indicating that urbanization has a significant positive contribution to rural revitalization, and the degree of government intervention and education investment among the control variables are also the driving factors of rural revitalization. The regression results of new urbanization subsystem on rural revitalization indicate that the new urbanization mainly promotes rural revitalization through economic urbanization, population urbanization and spatial urbanization. The regression results of new-type urbanization on rural revitalization subsystem show that new-type urbanization mainly significantly improves rural economic development level and rural residents’ basic living standard. The results of the regional regression show that new urbanization in the central region has a slightly greater impact on rural revitalization than in the eastern and western regions. In addition, considering the spatial spillover effect, the article uses the global Moran’s I index and local Moran’s I index to verify that both systems of new urbanization and rural revitalization have significant spatial autocorrelation. The regression results of constructing a spatial Durbin model show that the spatial coefficient value of rural revitalization is 0.353 at the 1% significance level, indicating that the rural revitalization of neighboring areas has a spillover effect on the rural revitalization of the region. The indirect effect coefficient value of new urbanization on rural revitalization is 0.259 at the 1% significance level, indicating that urbanization has a spillover effect on rural development in surrounding areas. Finally, according to the conclusions, the article puts forward some policy recommendations. |
