Abstract/Summary:
In recent years, tourism market environment has suffered from tremendous uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity with the continuous impact of various unexpected events. At the same time, the national level attaches great importance to the high-quality development of tourism industry(TQD)and the need for a better tourism life at the citizen level is increasing. How to protect the construction of tourism economy resilience(TER),improve the level of TQD and promote the coupling coordination between the two systems has become the focus of current issues.TER provides resources for TQD,and TQD can feed back TER.There’s close interactive relationship between the two systems. This study complies with the idea of"system evalution-interaction relationship verification-spatio-temporal correlation analysis-coupling coordination analysis-obstacle factor analysis-interaction mechanism disclosure",provides new ideas for the sustainable development of regional tourism industry. From the perspective of coupling coordination, and guided by resilience theory, new development concepts and coupling coordination theory, this study constructs TER evaluation system that includes resistance, recoverer, reconstruction and renewer,as well as TQD evaluation system that includes innovative development, coordinated development, green development, open development and shared development. On this basis, various mathematical and spatial methods are used to empirically analyze the spatio-temporal evolution characteristics,spatio-temporal correlation characteristics, and coupling coordination characteristics of TER and TQD of 41 cities in the Yangtze River Delta region from 2000 to 2020.The results are as follows:(1)The overall growth of TER and TQD in the Delta region is characterized by a continuous temporal evolution and a decreasing spatial distribution pattern from southeast to northwest. The two systems exhibit discrete and continuous clustered spatial distribution patterns,respectively.(2)There are significant spatial differences in the Granger causality between TER and TQD in the Delta region. The two systems have a positive spatial correlation characteristic, and the local spatial correlation mode is dominated by High-High and Low-Low clustering.(3)The coupling coordination degree between TER and TQD in the Delta region shows a slow growth trend and a spatial distribution pattern with Shanghai as the core,Nanjing and Hangzhou as the sub core, decreasing from southeast to northwest, and the coupling coordination type gradually evolves from near disorder to barely coordination.(4)The coupling coordination between TER and TQD in the Delta region are comprehensively affected by various factors. At the target level, the barrier to TQD are increasingly greater than TER.At the criterion level, resistance, shared development, open development and innovation development are important factors that hinder the coupling coordination of the two systems. At the indicator level, the number of tourism invention patents authorized, inbound tourists arrivals, cultural and artistic performances are also major obstacles.According to the results, the implications and suggestions are proposed from four aspects, including establishing resilience concepts and improving resistance, implementing new development concepts and promoting the high-quality development of tourism industry, enhancing the positive interaction and coupling coordination between TER and TQD,so as to provide reference for the sustainable development of tourism in the Yangtze River Delta and other regions.
