The manufacturing industry,as an important pillar of Chinese real economy,has been facing the problem of "big but not strong".To solve this problem,it is necessary to realize the high-quality development of manufacturing enterprise innovation and promote Chinese manufacturing industry to climb up to the high-end of the global value chain.The development mode of relying on traditional factor dividend in the past has become unsustainable.With the advent of the era of artificial intelligence,the integration and application of artificial intelligence technology can’t only promote the high-quality development of manufacturing industry,but also bring innovation space for manufacturing industry,which will become an important driving force to realize the "change from big to strong" of it.In this context,it has certain practical significance to study the relationship between AI technology and innovation performance of manufacturing enterprises.The research of this paper focuses on the following three aspects: First,literature review and analysis of current situation.This paper compares the existing researches of domestic and foreign scholars on the topic of artificial intelligence and enterprise innovation related influence factors,explains the connotation of artificial intelligence and enterprise innovation performance,and systematically describes the development history of artificial intelligence in Chinese and its development status,and introduces the overview of manufacturing enterprises in terms of innovation input and output,and summarizes the various problems faced by manufacturing enterprise innovation;Second,theoretical analysis.Theoretical analysis.On the basis of innovation theory,enterprise resource base theory and dynamic capability theory,the impact of AI technology on innovation performance of manufacturing enterprises and its transmission path are explained.After the analysis,it can be found that the application of AI technology has a significant promotion effect on the innovation performance of manufacturing enterprises,and can affect the innovation performance of manufacturing enterprises through two channels: government subsidies and human capital structure of enterprises.Third,empirical test analysis.By drawing on the research methods of previous scholars,defining the concept of "artificial intelligence manufacturing enterprises",and clarifying the list of "intelligent manufacturing" and "intelligent manufacturing" manufacturing enterprises by combining the methods of text mining and manual review of the annual reports of each enterprise,this paper considers the integration of AI technology and manufacturing enterprises as a quasi-natural experiment,and conducts empirical analysis through a double difference model,and further ensures the robustness of the research findings through the parallel trend hypothesis,placebo test,and propensity score matching double difference.Using government grants and human capital structure as mediating variables,it was found that AI can enhance the innovation performance of manufacturing firms by increasing the government grants received by firms and optimizing the human capital structure.It is also found that there is heterogeneity in the impact of AI technology on the innovation performance of manufacturing firms,specifically,AI technology has a stronger contribution to the innovation performance of private firms than that of stateowned firms;the contribution is stronger in mature firms than in mature and declining firms.The article further expands the research theme based on the existing literature,discusses the relationship between AI technology and innovation performance of manufacturing enterprises,and explores the heterogeneity of the mechanism and impact of AI technology on innovation performance of manufacturing enterprises.On the one hand,it enriches the literature on the influence of AI technology on the innovation performance of enterprises;on the other hand,as a pioneering technology leading the current technological revolution and an important force driving industrial change,the relationship between AI and manufacturing innovation performance can provide direction and reference for the future formulation of relevant policies in manufacturing industry,and provide suggestions for the path of intelligent development of manufacturing enterprises. |
