In the background of Industry 4.0,artificial intelligence technology,as a new generation representative of Internet technology,has stepped into a new link to traditional industries,and it has excellent advantages in optimizing industrial structure,enhancing production efficiency and improving environmental pollution.At the same time,in the context of the in-depth use of global artificial intelligence technology,the development of manufacturing industry faces a situation of both opportunities and challenges.In the current globalization development pattern,intelligent manufacturing is the only choice for the development of China’s manufacturing industry,and the equipment manufacturing industry is known as the national "industrial core",which has become an important factor to strengthen the overall competitiveness of China’s manufacturing industry,but there are still problems such as unreasonable industrial production structure,weak core competitiveness and independent innovation ability.At the same time,compared with developed industrial countries,China’s equipment manufacturing industry,which is currently in the primary stage of industrialization,is more necessary to grasp the intelligent manufacturing technology and master the development of core competitiveness.This research takes the background of artificial intelligence as the starting point,targeting the equipment manufacturing industry for research,based on the theories of technological innovation,comparative advantage,industrial structure optimization,sustainable development,etc.,and uses a combination of qualitative and quantitative methods to study the transformation and upgrading ability of intelligent manufacturing in the equipment manufacturing industry.Firstly,based on the existing literature,this paper collates the research results on artificial intelligence and equipment manufacturing transformation at home and abroad,and defines the concepts of artificial intelligence and equipment manufacturing.Secondly,according to the analysis of the current situation of equipment manufacturing industry,using the rooting theory research method,Selection of factors with high relevance for the transformation and upgrading,extracting the transformation and upgrading capacity evaluation index,including the level of environmental development,technological innovation ability and value chain enhancement,etc.Then constructing a reasonable and scientific evaluation index system for the transformation and upgrading capacity of equipment manufacturing industry under the background of artificial intelligence,combining the entropy value method and gray correlation analysis method,using the transformation and upgrading capacity of 30 provinces and cities in China in 2020 except for Tibet The purpose is to explore the transformation capability of the equipment manufacturing industry in each province and city in 2020,and then make a longitudinal analysis of the comprehensive evaluation value of the equipment manufacturing industry through a number of typical years,and conclude that the equipment manufacturing industry development trend is good and the transformation and upgrading capability is improving.Finally,combined with the empirical analysis,for the analysis of the constraints affecting the transformation and upgrading in the context of artificial intelligence,put forward countermeasure suggestions for the transformation and upgrading capacity enhancement.The research results show that: the equipment manufacturing industry has a series of basic advantages of transformation and upgrading in the current artificial intelligence background,but at the same time there are difficulties and bottlenecks that hinder the development.Among the 30 provinces and cities in China,the regions with superior geographical location and developed economy have stronger ability to transform and upgrade.At the same time,after analysis,China’s equipment manufacturing industry currently has a lack of capital investment,lack of independent innovation,lack of composite technical personnel,low application rate of information technology and other constraints.Based on these problems,this paper proposes to fully absorb capital investment,deepen innovation for industrial development,focus on the introduction and training of intelligent talents,promoting the transformation and upgrading through digitalization and other transformation and upgrading capacity enhancement countermeasures;at the same time,in order to guarantee the smooth implementation of the transformation process and avoid possible risks,for the countermeasures proposed scientific control of investment funds,ensure the organizational structure to adapt to
