China’s rapid urbanization and industrialization process has continuously attracted a large number of rural young laborers to the city, resulting in the emergence and large-scale growth of the rural left-behind elderly population. The huge gap between urban and rural areas and unbalanced development have made them face many difficulties in the process of providing for the elderly. With the gradual arrival of an aging society, the increasingly core family structure and the lack of children have made the old-age dilemma faced by the rural left-behind elderly more severe. Therefore, under the current situation,it is of great significance to study the problem of old-age care for the left-behind elderly in rural areas and propose corresponding solutions to improve the level of old-age security for the left-behind elderly in rural areas, improve their quality of life, and improve their sense of happiness in life, which is of great significance for improving people’s livelihood and well-being and building a socialist harmonious society. In this paper, taking the left-behind elderly in S Village,Inner Mongolia as the survey object, with the help of social support theory and Maslow’s needs theory, and using participatory observation, literature research, interview method and case study method, this paper analyzes the social support status of left-behind elderly people in S Village in terms of living conditions, economic support, life care, spiritual comfort and medical health. The study found that the left-behind elderly in S Village mainly have the following problems in the social support for the elderly: the village living infrastructure is not perfect, the living conditions of the elderly are difficult and bad;relying on land for self-care,the source of income is single, and the level of economic support is low;life care mainly relies on self-and spousal support, children’s support is limited, formal support is missing;the spiritual world is monotonous, emotional needs are prominent, loneliness is strong, and the children’s spiritual comfort is insufficient, and the formal support function is not perfect;the health of the left-behind elderly is more hidden, and the medical needs are prominent, while informal support is limited and formal support is sorely lacking. In view of the above problems, the author analyzes the reasons from the imbalance of urban and rural economic development, the imperfection of the rural social security system, the weakening of the old-age function of traditional families, and the dilution of the concept of filial piety and respect for the elderly during the period of social transformation. And on this basis, countermeasures and suggestions have been made, the main measures include the full implementation of the rural revitalization strategy, vigorously improve the social security system, actively develop the rural community pension, reshape the traditional filial piety culture, the government, rural communities and other formal support subjects and the family, rural left-behind elderly themselves and other informal subjects, form a synergy, complement each other, give full play to the role of all parties, and form a relatively complete social support network to ensure the old-age care of the elderly left behind in rural areas. In order to solve the old-age dilemma faced by the rural left-behind elderly under the current situation. |
