A Research On The Black Issues In News Commentary Of Pulitzer Prize

Since 2020,the COVID-19 has swept through,with a series of social problems emerging.The "Freud" incident and the ensuing "Black Lives Matter" movement are one of the world’s key concerns.Behind them is the long-standing "unsolvable" black issue,which reflects the truth of racism and human rights in the United States.As a major power in the world,China not only focuses on its own development and strength,but also upholds the concept of "a community with a shared future for mankind",pays attention to a series of issues related to world peace and human equality,and speaks for the world’s vulnerable groups.At the same time,issue research is an important aspect of news commentary research.Black issues are the normalization and specialization of American news commentary,which can highlight American culture and ideology.There are significant differences in the framework and narrative between American news reviews and Chinese news reviews.Exploring American news reviews can help deepen our research on news reviews.This article selects 35 texts on black issues at the Pulitzer News Review Awards from2013 to 2022 as the research object,analyzes their topic types,and conducts discourse analysis based on Van Dik’s three-dimensional discourse theory of "discourse cognition society",supplemented by framework theory.It studies the textual,cognitive,and sociocultural characteristics of black issues at the Pulitzer Review Awards,and explores the presentation characteristics of black issues in the Pulitzer Review Awards Cognitive construction and the culture and ideology behind the text.Based on the analysis of the full text of the black issue of the Pulitzer Review Award,five topics were summarized: "racial conflict" "American history" "social discrimination" "police brutality" and "judicial darkness".At the level of text characteristics,it analyzes five parts: title,narrative,argument,rhetoric,and style.The research found that the titles of black issues in Pulitzer Prize winning reviews focus on factual descriptions in the news dimension,and are good at using metaphors in the rhetorical dimension;The narrative mode of the story is a combination of plot framework and topic framework,and is full of narrative power of storytelling;Arguments are characterized by multi topic intersection and critical positions;The rhetorical level includes two aspects: news sources and direct speech.The number of news sources is large and the naming is strong.The article is good at alternately using opposing news sources to promote the story.Strong news sources defend vulnerable groups,making opinions highly persuasive,and giving direct speech greater space to present information sources at a high level,maximizing the truth;The author’s comments have a style of emotional fusion and abundant emotion.They are full of humanistic care while stating facts and excavating historical truth.The description contains emotional color,fully mobilizing the emotions of the audience.The text of the black issue ultimately constructs the identity of the black people.This article summarizes six identity images of the black people: victims of tragic fate,inferior ethnic groups that have been discriminated against,saboteurs of the white balance,the other among the others,the never-giving fighter,and the founding fathers who have made outstanding contributions.When the author constructs the identity cognition of blacks,both ideological parties also exhibit two logical cognition parts: "otherness perspective" and "antagonistic gaze".At the same time,the repetitive emphasis and construction on blacks not only demonstrates the pursuit of objective equality in journalism,but also solidifies the racist concept in the United States.Finally,the study entered the macro level,exploring the social culture behind the Black Issue text of the Pulitzer Review Awards.At the level of identity culture,blacks have experienced the stereotype and transformation of "third cultural people";At the level of discourse culture,the discourse power of blacks is in a state of relative lack and partial resistance;At the conceptual and cultural level,the apparent democratic freedom of the United States and the core of its caste system are the deepest factors contributing to the current situation and the root cause of all divisions.The blacks who grew up in this environment also have a dual state of consciousness.
