Fact-checking originated in the West.It has changed from a traditional industry norm to a way of news reporting in the process of development and has gradually changed from pre-verification to post-verification,and the content of verification has also changed from the remarks of political figures to the hot topics on the Internet.Its importance is also increasing with the rapid development of the speed and quantity of information in the era of social media.In academia,it is also receiving increasing attention nowadays.Fact-checking plays an important role in correcting the attitudes and perceptions of the audience,continuously maintaining the authenticity and objectivity of the press and the credibility of the media.Based on previous research,this study attempts to select five factors that are highly related to fact-checking: information source,form,and expression of fact-checking conclusion,issue involvement of the audience,and the audience’s original attitude,to study the influencing factors of fact-checking on social media in China.Perceived message effectiveness is selected as the measurement variable of communication effect.The study will adopt the method of online experimentation.The 3*2*2 control group will be given different experimental materials for each group to watch or read,and then the experimental data will be collected in the form of a questionnaire survey.After using SPSS to analyze data,the conclusion of this study found that under the epidemic topic selected in this study,the video form and the official information source had the best communication effect.The fact-checking conclusion and the original attitude of the audience do not affect its communication effect.Topic engagement of the audience only plays a moderating role in the influence of the information source of social media on the communication effect of fact-checking.Finally,according to the analysis of these data,combined with the current situation and dilemma of Chinese fact-checking practice on social media,this study puts forward suggestions and opinions.It is suggested that the content of fact-checking should be released in a more visual form,more attention should be paid to the professionalism of the content and the choice of information source and should work hard to build more high-quality fact-checking platforms.
