Research On Autism Reporting From The Perspective Of Constructive Journalism

Autism is a developmental disorder caused by nervous system disorders,and the current medical level is limited,which cannot prevent and cure autism,and can only reduce the symptoms of patients and help them integrate into society through educational rehabilitation.According to relevant research statistics,there are more than 10 million people with autism spectrum disorders in China,and there are problems among them such as untimely diagnosis,insufficient supporting resources,and limited social support for older autistic patients.As an important source of public access to information and an important participant in social governance and the realization of public welfare,the actions of the media will have a direct impact on social perception and will contribute to the coordination of all sectors of society to improve such issues.In this study,the autism reports of The Paper were selected as the research object,and the research method of content analysis was used to sort out and analyze the news reports on autism from 2014 to 2022.From the perspective of constructive news,combined with four types of constructive journalism practice branches,the practical characteristics of The Paper as a new type of mainstream media’s reporting on autism in content and form were explored,and the practice deficiencies in The Paper in autism reporting were reflected,and based on this,the improvement path was considered to improve the practical level and practical ability of mainstream media to promote the solution of such social problems.It is found that the autism report of The Paper has a high overall application frequency of the concept of constructive journalism,and from the perspective of the content presentation of the four branches of constructive journalism,the program news report takes into account both micro experience and macro layout,and the news is expected to focus on frontier exploration and key breakthroughs,peace news presents multiple perspectives to promote social understanding and dialogue,and restorative narrative focuses on telling recovery stories and social care activities.In terms of communication methods,reports in the form of graphics and videos account for more,and the degree of visualization of reports is relatively high.However,the patients themselves are rarely the main source of information,the rural patient groups are collectively aphasia,and the sources and geographical balance of the reports are insufficient;In non-constructive journalism,positive propaganda stories are not compatible with constructive;The informative nature of the program news and the forward-looking lack of the expected news.Finally,in view of these shortcomings in the autism reports of The Paper,it is proposed to highlight the subjectivity of patients and improve the balance of reporting.Strengthen awareness of problems and promote synergy;Coordinate program logic,strengthen exploration practice and other reporting suggestions.
