Women are an essential part of human society.As an indispensable social force,women play an important role in national development and social construction.In recent years,with the improvement of social environment and the development of feminist thinking,women’s awareness of independence is increasing and their own strength is improving.In today’s society,women have made outstanding achievements in the public sphere,and how the media,especially the official media,present the image of women is drawing more and more attention.Global People is a people magazine sponsored by the official mainstream media People’s Daily,and it is also the first people magazine with a global perspective in China.Therefore,it is of representative significance to study whether the magazine can realistically and objectively reproduce the image of women in its reports and whether it actively focuses on the social status of women’s groups.Global People,which changed its publication schedule to semi-monthly in early2017,has shown a fluctuating upward trend in the number of reports on female figures since its revision in 2017,and its tendency to report on female figures is mainly positive,which is in line with the nature and positioning of the magazine.With the emancipation of women’s minds and the improvement of women’s education level,the magazine also reports on women with higher education,and focuses more on the social roles of women in terms of role identity.The temperament of women in magazine reports has also become richer and more diverse,showing not only the gentle,virtuous and kind side of women,but also the tough,optimistic and independent side of women.In addition,when analyzing the image of women in magazine reports,it is found that the magazine reports in the past five years have presented a variety of female images such as women with outstanding ability,daring to break through,and selfless dedication,which is of great practical significance for improving people’s stereotypes of women and playing the role of female role models.With its strong editorial team,in-depth language features and topical coverage,Global People has won people’s hearts.However,there are still shortcomings in the magazine’s presentation of women’s image,such as imbalance of gender ratio and labeling of women’s image.It is still necessary to pay more attention to women in subsequent reports,pay close attention to women’s living conditions,provide balanced coverage of women in all fields of society,and actively create afair and just media environment.
