| Entertainment-education is a mass communication strategy designed to increase relevant educational knowledge,build tendentious attitudes,change undesirable social practices,alter audience behavior,and promote pro-social change through cleverly designed communication content in an entertaining manner.Unlike the "entertainment to death" phenomenon of television depicted by Neil Bozeman,the educational function of television has long been valued by foreign academics.Although China does not have a specific theoretical framework for Entertainment-education,it has been practicing the basic principle of "portraying the face of entertainment and highlighting the core of education".In recent years,the creation of melodramas has entered a new era.On the premise that the textual value of melodramas has been confirmed,we propose to discuss whether melodramas can achieve the function of entertainment and education.As a kind of entertainment carrier that can best cultivate socialist core values,how to convey mainstream values more appropriately has become an urgent issue in China.Based on the scope of Entertainment-education research,this paper conducts an empirical study based on the theory of "Narrative-Persuasion" and selects the melodramatic TV series "Mountain and Sea" as a case study.The study found that the social communication power of "Love in the Mountain and the Sea" was not only the most important part of the study,but also the most important part of the study.The study found that the narrative of poverty alleviation and poverty eradication in Love in the Mountain and Sea is distinctly entertaining,which not only brings entertainment experience,but also verifies that melodramas achieve persuasive effect among audiences with the function of Entertainment-education.However,there are still key factors in the narrative representation of the current TV text,such as unclear formulation of narrative themes,unrealized pro-social behavior goals,and inadequate pre-formative evaluation process.The study concludes that in order to develop the concept of Entertainment-education in the future,melodramatic TV dramas must forge a firm value assignment in the communication concept,focus on the concerns of the times based on the main axis of the Chinese dream;standardize the pre-planning of entertainment texts to realize the synergistic innovation of the persuasion framework;improve the quality of stories with the help of the narrative transmission mechanism;and enhance the credibility of persuasion with the integration of social pluralistic forces. |
