A Study Of CCTV Cultural Variety Programmes In The Cultural Cycle Theory Perspective

General Secretary Xi Jinping pointed out that "the profound Chinese civilisation is the unique spiritual identity of the Chinese nation,the root of contemporary Chinese literature and art,and a treasure of literary innovation".Therefore,literary and artistic works should strive to draw nutrients and wisdom from the excellent Chinese traditional culture,continue the cultural gene,extract the essence of ideas and show the spiritual charm.In recent years,a large number of programmes active on the screen have been rooted in the fertile soil of Chinese culture,integrating artistic creativity with Chinese cultural values and combining the spirit of Chinese aesthetics with contemporary aesthetic pursuits,activating the vitality and innovation of Chinese culture.Among them,China in the Classics won the 27 th Starlight Award for its unique narrative strategy of "dialogue between the past and the present" and its humanistic sentiments embodying the Chinese spirit.As the popularity of "China in the Canon" continues to grow,more and more CCTV cultural variety programmes are breaking through the original form of programme presentation and deepening their cultural content,leading to the high-quality development of more variety programmes.This paper takes China in the Canon,a representative cultural variety show,as its research object.Using cultural circulation theory,questionnaires,content analysis and in-depth interviews,this paper explores how the cultural meaning behind the show is represented,produced,identified,consumed and regulated in the process of circulation,and summarises successful experiences to provide reference for the innovative development of other cultural variety shows.The main content of this thesis is divided into three parts: in the first part,the concept of CCTV cultural variety programmes is clarified,the development history of CCTV cultural variety programmes is sorted out and the development characteristics of CCTV cultural variety programmes are analysed;in the second part,the deep cultural connotation of China in the Canon is analysed from the perspective of representation,production,identification,consumption and regulation,and through quantitative analysis and qualitative judgment,the cultural connotation of CCTV cultural variety programmes is explored in depth.In the third part,the cultural cycle in China in the Canon is summarised in the light of Hall’s theory of "junction",namely,"segment adaptability: core cultural symbols connect the five segments" and "cultural uniqueness: distinctive cultural symbols connect the five segments"."Cultural uniqueness:distinctive cultural practices reinforce meaningfulness" and "Production-consumer interaction: online and offline linkages reshape the production-consumer relationship",and "narrative construction" and "value leadership"."China in the Classics" has been proposed as an inspiration for the innovative development of CCTV cultural variety shows in three dimensions: "narrative construction" "value leadership" and "IP building".
