An Analysis On The Media Image Of Typical Characters In The People’s Daily’s "Several Typical Characters"

To commemorate the 100 th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China,the People’s Daily opened a column entitled "A Century of Struggle and a New Journey-Several Typical Characters" in 2021,launching 100 reports on typical people,who are either outstanding figures in politics,academia and other fields,or ordinary people who have been working hard for decades in ordinary positions with silent dedication.They are either outstanding figures in politics,academia and other fields,or dedicated people in ordinary positions,working quietly for decades.The thesis summarizes four images of typical character,the image of defying the sacrifice,patriotic image of loyalty to the party,the image of harding work,image of selfless dedication,and digs deeper into the value transfer behind them,which is conducive to deepening the audience’s ideological perception and optimizing the path of value transfer.From the level of discourse analysis,it is found that at the macro level,the column is concentrated in the distribution of event topics,mainly in politics,science,education,culture and health,accounting for 57% and 26% respectively;its graphic pattern of news is mainly:title-introduction-plot-background-evaluation.At the micro level: the vocabulary of this column is mainly concentrated in five categories: honor,contribution,struggle,sacrifice,party and country;the sentence style is simple,making good use of single sentences and short sentences;the discourse style is simple and plain,objective and true;metaphors are seldom quoted.After using the attributes of high-frequency vocabulary as classification criteria and classifying the vocabulary describing typical characters,the textual discourse,such as vocabulary,discourse system and verbal response,is analyzed to show that the column mainly constructs the image of typical characters who are loyal to the Party and patriotism,undaunted by sacrifice,hard work and selfless devotion.This thesis from the value transmission level finds that the transmission channel of social value is value construction and value interaction.According to the principle that the value object of the report is the audience,it can refine the identity of the audience,and the different values constructed by the image of typical characters through direct construction at the explicit level and indirect construction at the implicit level,and these values interact with each other at the text level and the communication environment level so as to convey them to the audience.Finally,in order to optimize the construction of value and transmission of typical character reports,this thesis summarizes the characteristics of this column in value construction and transmission.In addition,typical character reports should pay attention to the optimization of value transmission through three major methods: enriching report content,ensuring objective and accurate text,and effectively grasping audience needs.
