Abstract/Summary:
Maābhi?eka-mantra(大灌顶经)is a widely circulated buddhist apocrypha, and a certain number of relevant scriptures have been retained in Dunhuang documents. There are 415 Dunhuang manuscripts in Chinese, most of which are fragments.Only 12 of the415 manuscripts are complete or near complete. As far as the transcription age is concerned,it includes several centuries of manuscripts from the northern and Southern Dynasties to the Guiyi Army period, including 5 manuscripts with a clear chronology.Based on the comprehensive investigation of Dunhuang documents, this thesis makes a comprehensive collation and research on the Dunhuang Chinese manuscript Maābhi?eka-mantra(大灌顶经)from the aspects of edition, naming, conjugation and heteronymy.First of all, this thesis discusses the number in Qianziwen, the division of Buddhist scriptures and the different translation of the same scripture, and makes a preliminary inference on several important issues:the volume arrangement of the first three volumes of Maābhi?eka-mantra(大灌顶经)scripture may have changed between 664 and 695,and the"Pharmacist Sutra mantra(药师经咒)"may have come into being in the middle Tang Dynasty.Secondly,it analyzes the reasons for the different naming of the relevant volumes of the twelfth volume of Maābhi?eka-mantra(大灌顶经)in different atlas, and clearly defines the naming standard of this thesis. On this basis, according to the content of the documents and the conjugation,45 fragments not named by the predecessors was preliminarily named, and 6 fragment’s name was corrected.Fragment conjugation is one of the research focuses of this thesis.By comparing and analyzing the elements of fragment content, remnant words, handwriting, thesis and so on,86 fragments are conjugated into 30 groups, including 3 groups of patching and 27 groups of new patching. From the conjugation form of the Dunhuang Maābhi?eka-mantra(大灌顶经),this thesis illustrates several main reasons for the fracture and damage of Dunhuang writing volumes, and also briefly states the deficiencies in the existing catalogues or pictures reflected therein. This thesis also arranges the Turpan version of Maābhi?eka-mantra(大灌顶经),and conjugates the 44 Turpan fragments into 21 groups,including20 groups that can be conjugated and 1 group that is suspected to be conjugated. Finally, this thesis discusses the possibility of judging the ownership of the writing system by heteronymy, taking two complete manuscripts of volume 10th of Dunhuang Maābhi?eka-mantra(大灌顶经)as an example. It also corrects the"non substantive heteronymy"such as error, detachment, derivation and inversion, and makes a textual research on the"substantive heteronymy"with the value of philology and lexicology.
