Yuen Toung Jih Pao (1954-1975) Supplement Group And South Vietnam Chinese Literature

In recent years,there have been numerous achievements in the study of Chinese literature in Southeast Asia.As a part of Chinese literature in Southeast Asia,Chinese literature in Vietnam has not been systematically and comprehensively studied by scholars because of its lack of information and difficulty in collecting it.During the 1950s and 1970s,the most prosperous stage of the development of Chinese literature in South Vietnam,the Chinese language newspapers and their literary and artistic supplements were an important force for its development.Yuen Toung Jih Pao,the largest-selling newspaper of the period,has become an important source of literature in the study of Chinese literature in South Vietnam.This paper chooses Yuen Toung Jih Pao and its supplement group as the research object,and systematically combs the situation of the newspaper’s creation and its deputy on the basis of the general situation of the evolution of the periodical group.I will discusses its significance in reflecting and promoting the communication between the Chinese literature of South Vietnam and the Chinese literature of South Vietnam.The full text is divided into five chapters.First of all,the introduction,this part is to sort out the academic research on the existing Chinese literature in Vietnam,expound the research object,research situation,research methods and research means.Chapter one is an overview of the Yuen Toung Jih Pao and its supplement.Firstly,it introduces the background of the establishment of Yuen Toung Jih Pao,the beginning and the end of its creation and the purpose of running the newspaper.Secondly,it combs the evolution of the various supplement groups of Yuen Toung Jih Pao,and analyzes the creation of literary and artistic supplement,comprehensive supplement and other supplement from 1954 to 1975 through the method of list statisticsChapter two mainly examines and analyzes the literature of Vietnam-Chinese and its cultural status construction in the supplement of Yuen Toung Jih Pao.First of all,detailed analysis of the supplement published in the novel,poetry,prose and other different genres of Vietnam-Chinese literary works,grasp the characteristics of Vietnam-Chinese literature and creative style.Secondly,through the analysis of concrete works,it reveals the two important characteristics of the literary works of Vietnam-Chinese,that is,the strong traditional Chinese culture color and the native color.Chapter three mainly introduces and probes into the situation of communication among Yuen Toung Jih Pao,Hong Kong and Taiwan literature.This study focuses on the dissemination of popular literature and modern poetry in the Chinese language and arts circles and the two-way interaction with the Chinese language circles.Finally,the conclusion,through the previous analysis and research,and compared with the new Vietnam-Chinese newspaper,summed up the impact and significance of the Yuen Toung Jih Pao on the development and dissemination of Vietnam-Chinese literature.
