| With the development and progress of society,the society’s demand for talents has also undergone profound changes.How to make the quality and structure of talents meet the needs of China’s transformation and development has become one of the important topics in the field of education.In recent years,secondary vocational education and STEM concept have become hot spots in the field of vocational education research.However,the curriculum teaching concepts of many secondary vocational schools are backward,and the speed of teaching content update cannot keep up with the requirements of the development of the times.The disconnection between the teaching of traditional Chinese materia medica courses and the needs of practice is obvious.In terms of teaching methods,the teacher-speaking,student-listening,teacher-centered teaching mode is often adopted.The knowledge learned by students is separated from the practice of traditional Chinese materia medica,and they lack the ability to apply the professional knowledge they have learned,analyze and solve practical problems,which makes it difficult to adapt to the development of Chinese materia medica.Therefore,it is an urgent problem to explore new teaching ideas and new teaching modes of Chinese materia medica courses in secondary vocational schools.The STEM concept has the characteristics of interdisciplinary knowledge integration and application,advocates the cultivation of students’ abilities in activities,and attaches importance to the cultivation of students’ ability and quality.It allows students to apply the knowledge and skills they have learned in practice,so as to improve students’ learning effect and practical application ability.Therefore,it is a problem worth exploring to apply the STEM concept to the course of Chinese materia medica in secondary vocational schools and to innovate the teaching concept of Chinese materia medica courses in secondary vocational schools.Guided by learning theories such as constructivist learning theory,multiple intelligence theory,learning transfer theory,and learning-by-doing theory,this study adopts research methods such as literature research,case analysis,questionnaire survey,and quasi-experimental to study the teaching mode of secondary vocational courses based on STEM concept.The study finds that the current teaching of Chinese materia medica in secondary vocational schools suffers from the following common problems: lack of interdisciplinary integration,poor training of practical ability,and teaching coordination and teaching scenario creation that can not meet the teaching needs.The analysis of these problems reveals that the main reasons for these problems are outdated teaching ideas,teaching objectives centered on knowledge imparting,teaching content mainly based on book knowledge,and single teaching mode.This article is based on the needs of secondary vocational Chinese materia medica courses for cultivating students’ practical ability,with the guidance of relevant theories.According to the teaching content and teaching objectives of secondary vocational Chinese materia medica,and the excellent examples of scholars at home and abroad who added STEM concepts to secondary vocational teaching.a teaching model of secondary vocational courses is constructed according to the concept of STEM is constructed.Through the teaching practice of 41 students from Zhanjiang Health School in Guangdong Province,the feasibility and effectiveness of incorporating the STEM concept into the teaching of Chinese materia medica in secondary vocational schools are tested.After the teaching practice,through the data analysis of the questionnaire survey results of the experimental group and the control group,it can be found that the learning interest,innovative thinking,professional knowledge and career philosophy of the students in the experimental group have been significantly improved,and their practical ability has been well cultivated.The feasibility and effectiveness of the theory of this dissertation are verified.The research conclusions of this paper can not only provide a certain reference value for the improvement of the Chinese materia medica teaching model in secondary vocational schools in China,but also provide important reference value for the correct introduction of STEM concept in the design of subject teaching models in other secondary vocational schools. |
