| Journal evaluation has always been a research hotspot in metrology area, researchers are committed to exploring the application of different indicators in journal evaluation work,at the same time, new journal evaluation indicators are constantly appearing.Reasonable classification of evaluation indicators is the basis and premise of journal evaluation work, therefore,it is very necessary to understand the characteristics of new indicators, classify them reasonably and evaluate their application effects in journal evaluation at different levels.Through literature research, this paper understanded the development status of journal evaluation indicators and filtered out new indicators proposed in recent years, summarized the definitions and calculation methods of these indicators, and combined some traditional indicators for research. There are 34 research indicators in this article, including 8traditional indicators such as Total Citation and Impact Factor, and 26 new indicators such as Cite Score and Normalized Article Influence Score.Secondly, select SSCI and SCIE journals containing multidisciplinary journals as the research objects for empirical research, calculate the index data of each journal, use exploratory factor analysis method to explore the classification of evaluation indicators, and understand the correlation between the indicators.Next,we will sample high-yield and high-cited journals,high-yield and low-cited journals, and low-yield and high-cited journals, perform descriptive statistical analysis, exploratory factor analysis and ranking analysis to evaluate the application effects of these indicators in the evaluation of journals at different levals. Finally, discuss the results from the citations of the articles and the nature of the journal subject, and the results of journals of different levels are compared and analyzed to explore the application effects of the indicators. The results found that 34 indicators are divided into six categories, each type of index has a certain degree of relevance in terms of the number of articles in the journal, the citation status of each article, the citation status of highly cited papers, and the nature of the discipline of the journal. In addition, the ability of indexing different levels of journals in high-yield and high-cited journals,high-yield and low-cited journals, and low-yield and high-cited journals is also different, and the application effects are also different. In summary, this article focuses on the vague classification and unclear application effects of journal evaluation indicators,it sorts out the definition and calculation methods of journal evaluation indicators newly proposed in recent years, and uses exploratory factor analysis to study the classification and application effects of these indicators. The research results of this article are helpful to supplement the research content of journal evaluation indicators, fill in the gaps in the understanding of new indicators, provide ideas and directions for subsequent improvement of the indicators, and lay a theoretical foundation for subsequent journal evaluation work. However, this study still has certain shortcomings and limitations.Due to the lack of journal keywords information, author information and other relevant data, some journal evaluation indicators are discarded, and statistical data may have errors, therefore, the empirical results may be somewhat different from the real situation. In the follow-up study, this issue should be further improved. |
