A Study On The Discourse Change Of Our Country’s Olympic Reports

In 2008,China took the Olympic stage for the first time as a host,hosting the 29 th Summer Olympic Games in Beijing,and in 2022,China once again hosted the 24 th Winter Olympic Games in Beijing.The Double Olympic Games spanned 14 years,and China has undergone tremendous changes in politics,economy,sports and international status.As the organ of the Central Committee of our Party,People’s Daily represents the position and discourse policy of the Party and the state.People’s Daily’s coverage of the two Beijing Olympics reflects the shift in the concept and discourse of China’s mainstream media on Olympic coverage.This article adopts Fairclough’s discourse analysis theory,taking People’s Daily’s reports on the two Olympic events from August 8th to 24 th in 2008 and February 4th to 20 th in 2022 as the analysis object,and analyzed 1268 articles Content analysis was carried out on 2008 Olympic Games reports and 1507 reports 2022 Winter Olympics,which were coded from six categories of news topics,news protagonists,report quotations,report genres,report techniques,and report emotions.The content analysis results showed that People’s In terms of news topics,the Double Olympics report of the Daily has focused on the highlighting of sportsmanship such as competition and fighting from 2008 to 2022;Mainly;the reporting genre has changed from communication-based to news-based,and there are obvious differences in the report texts of the two Olympic Games.The dissertation analyzes the key words and high-frequency words in Olympic event reports,and reveals the specific change trajectory of my country’s Olympic report discourse from the aspects of commercialization,individualization,popularization,technology and intertextuality of the report discourse,and reveals It reveals the deep social changes behind the discourse changes.Among them,the international environment has changed from globalization to anti-globalization,my country’s international image has changed from a developing country to a responsible big country image,the media environment has changed from centralization to decentralization,and the Chinese people’s perception of sports value has changed from sports competition to healthy china.are the root causes of the discourse changes in my country’s Olympic reports.This paper reveals the inner relationship between the social context changes and the discourse changes.
