Smartphone users receive a large number of different kinds of notifications every day,which brings various user experience problems.In order to improve the user experience related to notification,it is necessary to conduct in-depth research.Notification occurs anytime and anywhere,which makes the traditional artificial user research methods difficult to meet the research needs.Therefore,new research methods are needed.With the help of context-awareness user data collection tool CAUX and the real user experience research project,the author captures a large number of user behavior,system status and environmental status data related to notification in the real scene,and explores how to carry out research and design improvement on user behavior and experience related to smartphone notification.The work adopts the research strategy of iterative research based on application case studies.The main work includes four parts:(1)Observe and analyze the behavior and experience of smartphone users related to notification in the real scene,divide the notification-related interaction behavior into five stages and establish the task model,so as to make sure the research focus and data to be collected in each stage.(2)Analyze whether the CAUX tool can meet the needs of data collection,increases the function of obtaining notification reminders and motion states,use the tool to collect the user behavior,system status,environmental status data related to the notification of 32 users over 8months.Explores the process of data sorting,and formulates a data screening algorithm for the deficiencies in data sorting.(3)The work adopts a combination of manual and automatic analysis,which uses analysis methods including using frequent context sequence mining based on the Prefix Span algorithm and data statistics and visualization analysis methods,and makes an in-depth analysis of the user rules and user experience problems in five aspects: the number and types of notifications,notification reminder,notification viewing frequency,motion speed when viewing notification content,processing way and processing rate of notification content,and put forward design improvement suggestions in a targeted manner.The research results show that this user research method with the help of automatic tools,compared with traditional methods,can help product design developers to have a deeper understanding of user behavior and experience related to notifications,so as to support experience evaluation and design improvement in the practice of product design and development.This work is also a useful exploration of a new approach to product user experience design in the era of mobile internet. |
