| City and communication are mutually external and prerequisite. As a continuum of time and space, the communication of modern cities pays more attention to the spatial turn. The urban development witnesses the history of human beings from ancient times to modern society. This development cannot be simply understood as a change in human settlements, but also a social cultural and social relations change and transformation.Because of this, urban spatial expression should include two ways. One is to shape a structured three-dimensional space, and the other is to reshape and impact a space by culture, history and society, etc.Breaking away from the research path of structural functionalism, urban space itself can be used as a medium. Not only can it pass on a message, but also it can use modern light and shadow technology to extend the virtual space, which can promote the embodied communication among people and provide opportunities for people’s identity and role establishment to store affective commitment and social memories, and based on the relationship between cities and people. The form of informational cities is varied, and the image-based visual construction of public space has become the focus of competition for attraction and meaning sharing with the public. This article will take the Wuhan Yangtze River Light Show,a visually prominent space medium,as the research object, and take the "communicability" urban communication as the research perspective,to collect text and video materials about the light show. And this article mainly uses grounded theory, and supplements it with the observation method to collect relevant data. With the help of related theories such as communicability and urban imagery,it studies how the urban landscape of the light show as a medium, breaks the divisions, constructs interactive meaning, promotes cultural sharing, and realizes the multi-dimensional core value of communicability. On the whole, the Yangtze River Light Show is a large-scale imaging urban landscape that integrates the structural elements, characteristic elements and perception elements of Wuhan. It is not only a high-tech expression of urban modern architecture, but also recreates the recognition of the city by light and shadow, such as all eye-catching city landmarks, which convey the trendy and contemporary sense of Wuhan. When Wuhan became the center of COVID-19 in 2020,it received worldwide attention. At that time, the visual and auditory impact created by the light show was expressed as a kind of "perceptual content",and was processed and assigned as an important method to express the emotions of Wuhan City and its public. The vision was applied to build a communication relationship, which conveys the city’s continuous "heroism" from ancient times to the present. This article starts with all the elements that make up the light show, pays attention to its basic role in urban communication, focuses on explaining how to construct the "communication"of each part of the urban system, and share the significance construction and public dialogue brought by light show.As a new research perspective for understanding cities and communication, space and people,"Communicability" has become a basic quality of modern cities, which is particularly important for solving Wuhan’s problems and promoting urban communication construction. |
