The Relationship Among Family Closeness,Gratitude Tendency And Meaning In Life Of Junior High School Students And Intervention Study | | Posted on:2023-09-27 | Degree:Master | Type:Thesis | | Country:China | Candidate:X M Shen | Full Text:PDF | | GTID:2557307151486504 | Subject:Mental health education | | Abstract/Summary: | PDF Full Text Request | | Junior high school is a critical period for the physical and mental development of adolescents,however,due to the lack of discernment and emotional instability the special nature of the developmental process of adolescents can easily induce a series of psychological problems.Sense of life meaning is the degree to which individuals perceive the purpose and value of their existence,and is an important indicator of their physical and mental health development,so it is especially important to intervene in students’ sense of life meaning in junior high school.However,family is the initial place of socialization,and family closeness is the primary factor reflecting the function of family;gratitude is regarded as an internal positive psychological resource that is beneficial to the acquisition of a sense of meaning in life.Based on this,this study extends the research horizon to both external and internal resources to examine the relationship between family closeness and junior high school students’ sense of meaningfulness in life and the mediating role of gratitude tendency between the two.On this basis,a series of gratitude group counseling interventions were conducted to help junior high school students develop gratitude tendencies and enhance their sense of meaningfulness in life.The study was divided into two parts.The first part adopted a questionnaire method,using the Chinese version of the Family Intimacy and Adaptability Scale(FACES II-CV)Gratitude Questionnaire(CGQ-6),and the Chinese Revised Form of the Meaningfulness of Life Scale(C-MLQ).The 664 valid questionnaires were analyzed using SPSS26.0 and other software to explore the relationship between family closeness,gratitude tendency and sense of meaningfulness of life.Part II: Based on the results of the first part of the study,40 junior high school students were selected as subjects and divided into experimental group and control group,and ten group counseling interventions were conducted for the experimental group,while the control group was not treated with any intervention.The results obtained from this study are as follows.(1)Junior high school students’ sense of meaningfulness of life as a whole is at an upper-middle level,with significant differences in the dimension of meaningfulness of life experience by grade level,showing that junior high school students have a significantly better experience of meaningfulness of life than junior high school students and junior high school students.Non-only children are significantly more likely than only children to experience the meaning of life.(2)Family closeness among junior high school students is generally good;there are significant differences in family closeness by grade level,with junior high school students scoring significantly better than junior high school students and junior high school students;family closeness scores differ significantly in terms of whether or not they are only children,with non-only children having significantly higher family closeness than only children.(3)Junior high school students’ gratitude tendency is more positive overall,and there is a significant difference in gratitude tendency scores on whether they are only children or not.(3)Junior high school students’ gratitude tendency is more positive overall,and there is a significant difference in their gratitude tendency scores on whether they are only children.(4)There is a significant positive correlation between the variables of family closeness,gratitude and sense of meaning of life among junior high school students.(5)The tendency to be grateful among junior high school students mediates the relationship between family closeness and sense of meaningfulness of life.(6)The group counselling for junior high school students’ gratitude in this study can effectively improve the level of junior high school students’ gratitude,which in turn can improve the level of junior high school students’ sense of meaning in life,and the group counselling intervention is effective and feasible.In summary,it can be concluded that family closeness of junior high school students can directly or indirectly influence the sense of meaningfulness of life through gratitude tendency;gratitude group counseling can effectively improve the level of junior high school students’ gratitude and the level of sense of meaningfulness of life. | | Keywords/Search Tags: | Junior high school students, family closeness, gratitude tendency, Meaning in life, group counseling | PDF Full Text Request | Related items |
