A large number of studies have proved that a good parent-child relationship is crucial to the healthy development of teenagers.Rural left-behind children cannot live with their parents for a long time,so they lack face-to-face interaction and communication and emotional exchanges with them,pulling apart the psychological distance between parents and children and leading to the estrangement of parent-child relationship.How can we effectively enhance the parent-child relationship of left-behind children and promote their healthy growth? In recent years,this issue has attracted the attention of all sectors of society.Studies have proved that adolescence is the key period for the formation and development of gratitude.As a positive inner feeling,gratitude plays an important role in promoting interpersonal relationship,and parent-child relationship is also the interpersonal relationship in the family.Therefore,it is of great significance to explore the relationship between the gratitude of left-behind junior high school students and their parent-child relationship,and to investigate whether improving the gratitude of left-behind junior high school students to their parents can promote the parent-child relationship of left-behind junior high school students.In the present study,a questionnaire survey was conducted among 662 junior middle school students,482 of whom were left-behind junior middle school students,from a township middle school in Dazhu County,Sichuan Province.By analyzing the present situation of gratitude and parent-child relationship of left-behind junior high school students from the questionnaire data,this study tried to probe into the differences of gratitude and parent-child relationship in different demographic variables as well as the relationship between gratitude and parent-child relationship.On the basis of this,the parent-child relationship of left-behind junior high school students was intervened by group counseling of thanking parents.From the above research,the following conclusions can be drawn.1.The overall situation of gratitude of left-behind junior high school studentswas in the upper middle level,and the gratitude score of left-behind junior high school students was significantly lower than that of stay-at-home junior high school students,the gratitude cognition score was the highest and the gratitude behavior score remained the lowest among them.Besides,there were significant differences in gender,whether there are only children and whether they are class cadres.There was no significant difference in grades,parental outings and places of origin.2.The overall situation of the parent-child relationship of left-behind junior high school students was slightly above the average level,and the parent-child relationship score of left-behind junior high school students was significantly lower than that of stay-at-home junior high school students.What's more,the relationship with their mothers was better than that with their fathers,and there were significant differences in gender,grades,whether they were class cadres and parents' outings.There was no significant difference in whether there are only children and places of origin.3.There was a significant positive correlation between the gratitude of left-behind junior high school students and parent-child relationship in general,and the gratitude of left-behind junior high school students had a significant predictive effect on parent-child relationship.4.The group counseling of grateful parents can promote the parent-child relationship of left-behind junior high school students,and the effect was immediate and persistent.
