| Meaning in life refers to the individual’s experience that his life is meaningful and valuable, and he realizes that life should have a clear goal and mission.Meaning in life is an important indicator of individual physical and mental health, which is closely related to individual negative emotional problems, suicidal ideation and self-harm behavior. In recent years, incidents such as self-harm and suicide among middle school students are not uncommon, and they have attracted widespread attention from all walks of life.Adolescence is an important period for the physical and mental development of students, and it is also a period of high incidence of mental health problems. The sudden outbreak of COVID-19 has made this issue even more prominent. Therefore,it is of great significance to pay attention to teenagers’ meaning in life for individual physical and mental health and social harmonious development.Wong combines positive psychology with existentialist psychology and puts forward positive existential psychology, which holds that the best way for an individual to gain meaning in life is to focus on the positive effects of self-growth rather than the negative defense against death.Psychological capital is related to positive factors such as individual positive psychology and behavior, including four dimensions of self-efficacy,optimism,hope,and resilience..Studies have shown that individuals with high levels of psychological capital are more likely to have a high level of meaning in life. The maintenance and flow model of the meaning in life explains the pattern of individuals regaining the meaning in life, which is closely related to the individual’s relationship structure, that is,the better the family function is and the more family support they receive, the better the relationship structure is,so the higher the meaning in life of the individual is.Studies have shown that for individuals with low family function, have the lower self-efficacy and other factors in their psychological capital, the more disadvantaged they are for their physical and mental development.Since the level of family function can predict the level of individual psychological capital, and from the perspective of positive existential psychology, psychological capital affects the level of individual’s meaning in life, then we can understand family function and sense of life from the perspective of psychological capital to explore the mediating role of psychological capital between the two. Therefore, this research intends to investigate the relationship between family function, psychological capital and meaning in life, and to intervene in junior high school students through group psychological counseling based on psychological capital. This research is mainly divided into two parts. The first research, questionnaire surveys were conducted to test the 690 junior high school students in Chongqing to explore the relationship
