A Study On Group Work Intervention In The Work Of Disabled Veterans’ Welfare

Welfare work is an important part of China’s social security system and is highly valued by the Party and the State.Facing the special group of disabled veterans,we can combine social work with the welfare work,and apply the professional theories,methods and values of social work to this group to improve their life satisfaction and happiness,which is of great significance to do a good job in the welfare and resettlement work of disabled veterans nowadays.The main content of this research paper is to explore the path and method of social work intervention in the work of disabled veterans’ preferential resettlement through the presentation of activity projects.First,through the preliminary visits and combing,the following four problems were found among the veterans: monotonous life and few recreational activities;insufficient social support network;reduced self-identity;and insufficient spiritual concern.Next,we analyzed the reasons for the plight of the disabled veterans from three perspectives: the state,the community and the individual,and studied the necessity and feasibility of social work intervention in the disabled veterans’ welfare and resettlement work,and concluded that the current development of welfare work requires professional social work intervention.After that,we set objectives,planned group activities and carried out six sessions of group activities according to the needs of the disabled veterans.Finally,we evaluated the effectiveness of the social work intervention in the disabled veterans’ welfare and resettlement work,and found that the disabled veterans’ psychological,spiritual,emotional,and social interactions had improved.Afterwards,we reflected on the whole process of social work intervention and the problems encountered,and concluded that social workers need to improve their professional skills,strengthen the construction of a professional talent team and multi-linkage,integrate resources and build a better service platform,so as to better serve disabled veterans.This paper can provide some practical experience for the development of social work for disabled veterans in China while helping to promote the development of social work for disabled veterans.
