| Under the background of rapid urbanization, the migrant worker community has undergone a process of intergenerational transition.Unlike the first generation of migrant workers, the young migrant worker group is highly adaptable and educated. They would like to join the urban development to realize their personal values, and usually have a stronger will to become citizens. However, this group has been unable to integrate into urban life and other problems of psychological isolation and exclusion for a long time. And employment is an important way for rural migrants to integrate into cities. In the new era,the impact of the external environment and the transformation of their own characteristics have led to profound changes in the employment quality of young migrant workers. These changes inevitably affect their urban living situation and social interactions, further changing their willingness to integrate in the city. Therefore, this study deepens the meaning of employment quality based on group characteristics and explores the impact of young migrant workers’ employment quality on urban integration. The findings of the study are important for the realization of new urbanization and common prosperity. This study analyzes the impact of employment quality of young migrant workers on the urban integration, through reviewing the relevant theories on labor migration and urban integration.Based on the characteristics of the young migrant workers group, the employment quality evaluation index system is constructed from five dimensions: job income, job intensity, job security, job stability and career development.Four indicators were selected based on the psychological integration level, including trust level, human relations, happiness level, and class perception. And factor analysis was used to calculate the level of urban integration of young migrant workers. Finally, based on the results of theoretical and empirical studies, this study proposes a path to enhance the urban integration of young migrant workers. The following conclusions were obtained from this study.(1)The increase in the level of employment quality has a significant positive effect on young migrant workers’ willingness to integrate into the city. The quantile regression results show that the contribution to employment quality is more significant for the group of young migrant workers with higher levels of urban integration.(2)In terms of differences in individual characteristics, improved employment quality will have a more significant impact on the urban integration of young migrant workers for groups who are male, married, have higher levels of human capital, and have better health status.(3)From the results of the difference decomposition, the urban integration impact under the household registration difference mainly stems from the endowment difference. And based on mobility range differences, the urban integration differences of young migrant worker groups mainly stem from characteristics differences.Accordingly, this study proposes the following policy recommendations.(1)A positive employment environment needs to be created for young migrant workers in the process of promoting people-centered urbanization.(2)It is necessary to promote the employment quality of young migrant workers with a multi-dimensional approach, focusing not only on income improvement, but also on labor intensity and employment rights.(3)Differentiate young migrant workers with different characteristics and differentiate precise governance to improve the group’s willingness to integrate into the city.(4)Encourage local citizenship of young migrant worker groups and reduce urbanization costs. |
