Young migrant workers have become an important force in China’s modernization construction, but their employment situation in cities is not very optimistic.Receiving higher education is the most direct way to improve the quality of employment. However, due to the influence of many factors in the labor market, graduates of urban and rural universities are also facing the difficulty of employment. Moreover, the sudden outbreak of new crown pneumonia in 2020 exacerbated the grim situation of college graduate employment. The "uselessness theory" is spreading in rural society, and the role of higher education is questioned. Therefore, this study raises the following questions: Are there significant differences in the quality of employment between young migrant workers and rural college graduates? Compared with graduates from urban universities,is the quality of employment of graduates from rural universities worse? How many factors are affected by the quality of employment, and how are the differences in employment quality of the three groups formed? In order to answer the above questions, this article focuses on six parts:introduction,Literature review and theoretical basis, employment quality index construction, employment quality difference analysis, employment quality difference influencing factors, conclusions and recommendations. The first chapter introduces the research background, research purpose and significance, research content and research methods,as well as the innovations and deficiencies of this research. The second chapter first defines the concepts involved in this article, and then reviews the research results related to the employment quality of young migrant workers and college graduates. Finally, the theoretical research framework of this article is established. The third chapter is to construct a targeted employment quality measurement index system for young migrant workers and college graduates, and use the principal component analysis method to calculate the comprehensive employment quality of individual samples of young migrant workers, rural college graduates, and urban college graduates.Score.The fourth chapter focuses on the detailed comparison and analysis of the differences in the employment quality of the three groups, and then compares the internal employment quality from the aspects of gender and region. The fifth chapter first analyzes the factors affecting employment quality, and then uses the oaxaca-blinder difference decomposition method to explain the differences in employment quality among the three groups.Chapter VI draws conclusions based on the above empirical research results and proposes reasonable countermeasures.Based on the results of empirical research, the main conclusions are as follows:First, the employment quality level of urban university graduates is higher than that of rural university graduates, and the employment quality level of rural university graduates is higher than that of young migrant workers, and the difference is significant.Second, the overall sample regression results show that receiving higher education has a significant positive impact on the improvement of employment quality. The sub-sample regression results show that human capital and social capital factors are the main factors affecting the employment quality of the three types of groups,But there are differences between the regression coefficients of each factor.Third,30.44% of the difference in employment quality between young migrant workers and rural university graduates is caused by endowment differences and 69.56% is caused by discrimination in academic qualifications;35.74% of the difference in employment quality differences between rural university graduates and urban university graduates Endowment differences resulted in 64.26% due to hukou discrimination. In view of the above conclusions, this article proposes that: The government improves the employment quality of young migrant workers by eliminating discrimination such as household registration and academic qualifications and increasing investment in education;young migrant workers should focus on accumulating human capital and appropriately developing social capital to improve the quality of employment;Urban and rural university graduates should strengthen their ability to employ and achieve matching between what they have learned and their employment practices.
