| With the continuous expansion of postgraduate students,the quality of postgraduate education has become a hot spot for scholars to study,while the cultivation quality of academic masters is the focus of research.The ability of academic master students to maintain a lasting passion and ambition for academic research(academic aspiration and interest)has become an important factor affecting the quality of graduate training.As the “significant other” of a graduate student,the supervisor has a significant impact on the academic research for academic master students.The core of the supervisor transformative guiding style is to convey a positive mentoring attitude through inspiring words and actions.It emphasizes that the supervisor promote maximally the academic master students’ inner pursuits through internal influence.However,the relationship between the supervisor transformative guiding style and the academic aspiration and interest of academic master students has not been clarified,and it is necessary to deeply explore the inner connection between the two in order to facilitate the full enhancement of graduate students’ academic ability and improve the quality of graduate education.Therefore,the study will delve into how the supervisor transformative guiding style affects the academic aspiration and interest of academic master students.To explore the “black box” of the relationship between the supervisor transformative guiding style and the academic aspiration and interest of academic master students,the study refers to the relevant literature of the supervisor transformative guiding style,academic aspiration and interest,supervisor-student exchange and research efficacy.And the study cites social exchange theory and social cognition theory as the theoretical basis of the research and put forward relevant research hypotheses on the basis.This study developed a structural equation model based on four main variables: supervisor transformative guiding style as the independent variable,the academic aspiration and interest of academic master students as the dependent variable,and supervisorstudent exchange and research efficacy as the mediating variables.The study used questionnaire method,data analysis method,and the SPSS and Smart PLS statistical software were used for test analysis.The data from the pre-survey questionnaires were analyzed and tested for reliability and validity to ensure the scientific validity of the scales used and to form the official questionnaire.The data for the formal survey came from academic master students in universities across the country.A total of 1187 original data were collected,and 1154 sample data were finally obtained after deletion.The study used data analysis software to perform descriptive statistical analysis,reliability testing,difference testing,and hypothesis testing on the collected sample data.The results show the following: in terms of difference test,academic master’s gender and discipline type had significant differences in the supervisor transformative guiding style,academic aspiration and interest and research efficacy;there is a significant difference in the supervisor’s title in research efficacy;there were no significant difference in the gender of supervisors in the main variables.About hypothesis testing,there is a significant positive relationship between supervisor transformative guiding style and academic aspiration and interest of academic master students;supervisor-student exchange and research efficacy play independent mediating roles between supervisor transformative guiding style and academic aspiration and interest of academic master students,respectively;supervisor-student exchange and research efficacy play a chain mediating role between supervisor transformative guiding style and academic aspiration and interest of academic master students.The study makes specific recommendations: first,promote“role change” and improve the level of transformational guidance.Second,follow the “reciprocity norm” to build a high-quality supervisor-student exchange.Third,awaken the “role awareness”and enhance the research efficacy of academic master students.The study attempts to uncover the“black box” of the mechanism of supervisor transformative guiding style on academic aspiration and interest of academic master students.It uses a unique research perspective to incorporate the mediation of supervisor-student exchange and research efficacy into the theoretical model,and expands the action path of supervisor transformative guiding style on academic aspiration and interest of academic master students.This provides an empirical reference for scientifically comprehensively enhancing the academic aspiration and interest of academic master students. |
