With the continuous deepening of reform and opening up,urbanization(urbanization),China has entered a new stage of development. The old method of relying on resource driven urban development for a long time has further demonstrated its disadvantages, and talents with high education and knowledge levels have gradually become the new driving force for urban development. The continuous development of China’s education industry has cultivated a group of highly educated groups, who, after receiving higher education,Some of them may migrate to non native areas or cities where their household registration is not located for their own development needs, seeking better employment opportunities and living conditions to continue living and development. Therefore, studying the willingness of highly educated migrant population to reside in cities is of great significance for promoting urbanization, regional coordinated development, and urban development of migrant population. In this context, this study utilized dynamic monitoring data of the mobile population from 2012 to 2018(excluding 2013)to conduct research.Based on existing literature and relevant research results, research hypotheses were proposed, and descriptive statistics were used to describe the characteristics and residence intentions of the highly educated mobile population.A binary Logit model was used to conduct regression analysis on the influencing factors of urban residence intention of highly educated migrant population over a period of time, and to compare the changes in the influencing factors of urban residence intention of highly educated migrant population. The possible differences in influencing factors in a certain year were explained through real-life factors. Finally,a full sample regression analysis was conducted to determine the influencing factors of urban residence intention of highly educated migrant population.Through the research,it is found that from 2012 to 2018,the residence intention of highly educated floating population has steadily increased, and highly educated floating population has more similar personal characteristics: marital status is slightly more married than unmarried, the sex ratio of men is slightly higher but close to 50%,and the age is generally about 30 years old.The majority of highly educated migrant population are from across provinces, with the majority choosing the eastern region as their destination. The living costs of highly educated migrant population continue to increase, and the income level growth is relatively slow. The employment status of highly educated migrant workers is mainly that of employees. In terms of employment nature, the majority of highly educated migrant workers are gradually increasing in private enterprises and other occupational types. The overall number of employment in government agencies, public institutions, and foreign enterprises remains stable, while the number of employees in state-owned enterprises decreases. The four main factors that affect the willingness of highly educated migrant population to stay in cities are their marital status, income, length of mobility, and whether they have employee medical insurance, all of which appear in historical data.Based on the above analysis, combined with the behavioral characteristics and population characteristics of highly educated migrant population,as well as the comprehensive consideration of population inflow and outflow areas, the following policy recommendations are proposed: firstly, the inflow areas should make good population inflow planning to meet the needs of the inflow population, and reasonably guide population distribution. The outflow areas should adjust industrial layout, formulate clear talent selection standards, provide reasonable welfare benefits, and ensure the quality of public services; The second is to adhere to regional coordinated development, promote urban agglomeration development, optimize urban planning and layout, strengthen the introduction of scientific and technological innovation talents, promote rural urbanization and urban-rural integration, improve the overall level and quality of urban development, and avoid excessive disparities between cities;Thirdly, the city provides good career development opportunities,high-quality medical and educational resources,a certain quality living environment, and cultural, social, and life guidance suggestions to help highly educated migrant populations adapt to the life of their destination as soon as possible, further enhancing their urban residency awareness.
