Language teaching is an important way of cultural transmission and undertakes the important task of inheriting and understanding traditional culture.The Chinese Curriculum Standards for General High Schools(2017 edition,revised in 2020)and the report of the 20 th National Congress of the Communist Party of China clearly emphasize the importance of traditional Chinese culture.In this context,this study combines the shortcomings in the teaching of ancient poetry in high schools,puts the core literacy of "cultural inheritance and understanding" in the teaching of ancient poetry in high schools,and actively explores the optimization strategy of cultivating and improving the literacy of "cultural inheritance and understanding" in the teaching of ancient poetry in high schools.In addition to the introduction and epilogue,the main text of the article is divided into five chapters.The first chapter provides an overview of the teaching of ancient poetry in high schools under the literacy of "cultural inheritance and understanding",including the definition of related concepts,and explains the necessity of "cultural inheritance and understanding" literacy in the teaching of ancient poetry in high school.In the second chapter,through questionnaire survey and literature research,the current situation of ancient poetry teaching in high schools from the perspective of "cultural inheritance and understanding" is investigated,and it is found that students have strong utilitarian learning and low interest in learning.Students have fewer learning channels and insufficient traditional culture teaching resources;The students’ learning status of ancient poetry is not good,and the learning situation is not optimistic;The teaching methods of ancient poetry are single,the teaching content is monotonous,and the reasons are analyzed from four aspects: teaching objectives and textbooks,teaching concepts and teaching methods,difficulty in understanding ancient poetry,and far-reaching impact of examination-oriented education.Chapter 3 summarizes and analyzes the three target types and five major cultural types of high school ancient poetry teaching from the perspective of "cultural inheritance and understanding",namely cultural common sense,ideology and spirituality,folk festivals,art and literature,and language and writing.Chapter 4 combines the shortcomings of the current teaching of ancient poetry in high schools,and explores the teaching strategies of ancient poetry in high schools under the literacy of "cultural inheritance and understanding",respectively,based on the content of teaching materials and digging deep into the connotation of texts.Optimize classroom teaching and create learning situations;Update teaching methods and expand teaching resources;Improve teaching methods and enhance cultural experience in four aspects.Chapter 5 elaborates and evaluates the excellent teaching design case "Short Song Line",and writes the teaching design of "Peacock Southeast Flight(Parallel Order)" with "cultural inheritance and understanding" as one of the teaching goals,in order to contribute to the teaching of ancient poetry in high school.
