| HPS stands for History,Philosophy and Sociology of Science.As one of the two paradigms of international science education reform in the 21 st century,HPS education focuses on the study of history,philosophy and social factors related to science,and plays an important role in cultivating citizens’ scientific literacy.In order to cope with the changes and challenges of the 21 st century,many countries have carried out educational reforms aimed at cultivating citizens’ scientific literacy.At the beginning of 21 st century,China established the 2049 Plan based on the national conditions with the goal of improving the scientific literacy of the entire population.Many education reforms were carried out in the field of education.Geography is a science that studies the geographical environment and the relationship between man and earth.It occupies an important position in the curriculum system of high school and has an important influence on the improvement of students’ scientific literacy.Geography textbooks are the most basic tools to carry out teaching activities and play a pivotal role in teaching activities.With the promulgation and use of the Curriculum Standards of Geography for Senior High Schools(2017Edition,2020 Revision),Chinese senior high school geography textbooks have been updated accordingly.By comparing the HPS content in the fifth edition of Chinese high school geography textbooks,this paper studies the difference between different versions of HPS content,so as to put forward some suggestions for reference in the compilation and revision of textbooks,which will be of great value for the integration of HPS education and geography discipline and the study of geography education.Firstly,through literature collection and study,this study combs the current research status of HPS education,and analyzes the HPS education content of physical geography in the fifth edition of Chinese high school geography textbooks through content analysis and comparative method.According to the division of HPS content by the International Institute for Educational Evaluation(IEA),the HPS content classification of this study was determined,and the operational definition was made,and then the HPS content in the curriculum standard and the fifth edition of the textbook was statistically analyzed.According to the statistical coding results and HPS content classification,the fifth edition of the textbook is compared quantitatively and qualitatively from the aspects of consistency with curriculum standards,quantity,category comprehensiveness,presentation location and length,as well as specific HPS content cases.The conclusions are as follows: the fifth edition of high school geography textbooks and curriculum standards are consistent;The content quantity of HPS is different obviously,which shows that the education edition of People(78.33)> Chinese(72.67)> Hunan(51.67)> Shandong(43)>Shanghai(39.33).Among them,the history of science accounted for the largest proportion(52%),followed by the impact of science on society(24%)and the nature of scientific knowledge(11%),while the scientific career(9%)and the impact of society on science(4%)accounted for a relatively small proportion.HPS content is presented in the same position,mostly in reading and other columns.Among them,the humanistic edition(31%),the Chinese edition(86%),the Hunan Edition(46%),the Shandong Edition(51%),and the Shanghai edition(57%);The contents of HPS are basically the same size,among which,"paragraphs" account for 65% of the education edition,53% of the Chinese edition,69% of the Hunan edition,62% of the Lu edition and63% of the Shanghai edition.The textbook often presents the HPS content in the way of combining text and text,and integrates the values education such as patriotism,cultural confidence and scientific spirit of exploring the truth. |
