Textbook diversification is one basic policy of the textbook construction and also an important mission of the current basic education curriculum reformation. How to promote the construction of textbook diversification, enhance the quality and level of textbook, and boost completely the whole character of the Chinese nation, it is essential to be excellent in the evaluation of textbook.In the thesis I try to evaluate the textbook published by Sino Maps Press (SMP) according to the data I have got from its test-area.In the first chapter, I present the research background of the thesis, raise the necessity of carrying out the research, summarize the cultural heritage home and abroad, and introduce the main research methods.In the second chapter, I think, from the theories, the geography textbook should be evaluated from the knowledge, moral qualities, mental development, compiling, and geography viewpoint. The standard of evaluation of the content organization, text system, image system, and practice system is also introduced here.In the third chapter, the students' views on the difficulty, readability, design of diagram and text, and the benefit of columns are presented. And the thoughts of the teachers on the text system, the image system, and the practice system are also presented in it.The fourth chapter is an important part of the thesis. I bring forward the reasoning analysis to the textbook published by SMP according to the above data. The most special features of the textbook published by SMP is the organic integrating of text and exploring series, embodying the idea of 'giving priority to the inquiring of geographic issues' initiated by the curriculum standard. The main information in images is outstood by reducing the minor ones. In the mean time, the deep system of textbook is discussed here from geography knowledge, geography ideas, and moral qualities.The relation between the content of textbook and the curriculum standard is discussed in the fifth chapter, and I believe that the curriculum standard is the last line of the content selected in a textbook. At the same time, the relation between teacher and textbook is also discussed here as well as the relation between the student and the textbook.
