Football coaches are the leaders and organizers for teenagers to participate in football and improve their physical health.They play a unique role in giving full play to sports education functions such as sports wisdom and sports heart.In 2020,the Action Plan for the Construction of Eight Major Systems of National Youth Campus Football and other documents have proposed to comprehensively improve the coaching level of national youth campus football coaches and promote the quality and balanced development of youth campus football in the new era.However,there is a lack of evaluation methods and tools to evaluate the performance of U9-U12 football coaches.In the long run,such problems will affect the limited observation of the work performance of U9-U12 football coaches,evaluation imbalance,harsh training conditions and so on.From the perspective of competency theory,how to comprehensively improve the coaching level or teaching and training ability of U9-U12 football coaches should not only be combined with their work characteristics and actual conditions,but also develop the deep competency characteristics of coaches.Based on this,it is necessary to analyze the competency of coaches at a specific age.In this study,literature data,behavioral event interview,Delphi method,questionnaire survey and mathematical statistics were used to select coaches aged U9-U12 from 76 social football brand youth training institutions(2019-2021)by Chinese Football Association according to the Identification Standards of National Social Football Brand Youth Training Institutions(Trial).The competency characteristics of U9-U12 football coaches are analyzed,and the index model is constructed.The results are as follows:(1)Through exploratory factor analysis,the competency model of U9-U12 football coaches is constructed.The model consists of four factors,including personal quality,cognitive structure,relationship between establishment and development,professional evaluation,24 competency indicators and 29 questions.(2)Through analysis,it is concluded that the Chi-square freedom ratio of the model is less than 3,indicating that the four-factor structure model is well fitted,and the U9-U12 football coach competency index model is well verified.(3)The absolute values of standardized load systems were all > 0.6and P values were significant,the AVE values of mean variance extraction were all > 0.5,and the CR values of combination reliability were > 0.7,indicating that the U9-U12 football coach competency questionnaire had good aggregation validity.(4)The competency model constructed by this research can provide theoretical support for the recruitment and selection,performance management,training management and career planning of U9-U12 football coaches.
