In Chinese Curriculum Standards for Compulsory Education(2022 Edition),"Whole book reading" was identified as expanded learning task group,marking the official entry of it into the compulsory Chinese curriculum and becoming one of the key areas of Chinese learning.The fiction genre accounts for the largest proportion of masterpieces recommended in junior high school Chinese textbooks,and is also important for the development of students’ reading literacy because of its own characteristics.However,in the current teaching process of whole book reading of novels in junior high school,there are still problems such as students’ lack of reading interest,low overall reading volume of teachers and students,singular teaching methods,inadequate teaching guidance and imperfect teaching evaluation system.Based on this,this study takes the teaching of whole book reading of novels in junior high school as the research object and tries to propose practical teaching strategies.This thesis consists of three parts: introduction,text,and conclusion.The introduction discusses the research background and significance,summarizes the relevant research results,and determines the research methods.The main text is divided into the following four parts: Chapter One defines the relevant concepts,analyses the selection and characteristics of the novels in junior high school Chinese textbooks,and explains the value of the teaching of whole book reading of novels in junior high school;Chapter Two investigates and analyses the teaching status of whole book reading of novels in junior high schools;Based on the existing problems and previous research on whole book reading teaching strategies,Chapter Three attempts to propose practical teaching strategies in four aspects: stimulating students’ interest in reading,innovating teaching methods,strengthening teaching guidance and improving the teaching evaluation system;In Chapter Four,based on teaching strategies,takes How the Steel Was Tempered as an example for teaching design.
