A Study On Self-Presentation On Tik Tok Of "Job-to-Family" Stay-at-Home Mothers

With the development of Internet technology,different types of social platforms emerge in an endless stream.Tik Tok has become the leader of short video social platforms with its complete voice system and rich presentation methods.More and more people choose to record their lives through Tik Tok to complete their self-presentation.“Job-to-family” stay-at-home mothers have changed from “workers” in the workplace to“stay-at-home mothers” in the family.The change of identity not only impacts their economy and family,but also impacts their psychology.Therefore,this group is eager to deconstruct and subvert the previous stereotypes and shoot their favorite short videos to release themselves,so as to realize the construction of self-image and group identity.This paper adopted the research methods of literature research,in-depth interview,questionnaire survey and participant observation to conduct an in-depth analysis of the self presentation of the “job-to-family” stay-at-home mothers on Tik Tok.First of all,the paper makes an in-depth interpretation and analysis of the content of self presentation,and finds the motivations of self presentation are as follows: driven by the motivation of satisfying social needs,the mothers intend to share their daily life;Driven by the motivation of creating an idealized self-image,they present the contents that show their beauty and praise their good deeds.Driven by the economic benefits of traffic accumulation,there is the self presentation of hot videos following the trend;Driven by the pursuit of identity,some parenting experience videos have emerged.The self-presentation of “job-to-family”stay-at-home mothers on Tik Tok is essentially a process of self-image construction.The self presentation is rooted in social and cultural soil,so its presentation and expression on Tik Tok have both positive and negative effects.For “job-to-family” stay-at-home mothers,not only can they rely on self display to reverse the situation of others shaping,but they can also achieve group identity through life sharing.However,there are also obvious limitations in self presentation through the Tik Tok: on the one hand,it is easy to cause the deviation between the network image and the real image.In order to cater to the public’s aesthetic,some mothers hid their real image by setting up people,leading to the discrepancy between the network and the real image;On the other hand,it is also very easy to lead to the loss of subjectivity behind the display behavior,the fragmentation record of their own life,which makes their sense of boundaries between real and virtual gradually blurred,and gradually lost in the transformation between real and virtual.
