The employment choices of vocational education undergraduate students are related to the future development of vocational education,and there is still an imbalance in the development of general vocational education in China.After the promulgation of the National Vocational Education Reform Implementation Plan in 2019,new vocational education teachers implemented a dual quality oriented admission system reform,raising the admission threshold for vocational education teachers.However,the social status and salary benefits of vocational education teachers are not on par with those of ordinary education teachers,leading many vocational teachers and undergraduate students to switch to other high paying and relatively stable industries.Vocational education undergraduate students are an important source of vocational education teachers,and a large number of students changing careers can lead to a shortage of vocational teacher resources,thereby reducing the quality of vocational education.The employment choices of vocational education undergraduate students should be given special attention.The paper analyzes the problems in the employment selection of vocational education undergraduate students,and proposes targeted suggestions and countermeasures using a combination of qualitative and quantitative research methods to improve the current low employment rate of vocational education undergraduate students.The paper uses questionnaire and interview methods to investigate the current employment choices of undergraduate students in vocational education and normal education at M University.Distribute questionnaires to 212 vocational teachers and undergraduate students in three majors of M University in 2021 and 2022;Interviews were conducted with M University’s employment guidance teachers,vocational education teacher’s undergraduate professional course teachers,and graduates from different employment positions to obtain a large amount of original and effective data through research.Based on literature review,survey questionnaires,and interviews,combined with research themes and questionnaire design dimensions.Conduct data analysis from four aspects: student basic information,employment selection process,employment selection results,and related influencing factors.Based on the theoretical foundation of this study and the employment characteristics of vocational education undergraduate students,an investigation was conducted to investigate the problems in their employment choices.It was found that the social level includes two aspects: traditional vocational education bias and lack of talent attraction in vocational education;At the school level,it includes three aspects:career education,teaching resources,and professional settings in universities;The personal family level includes four aspects: employment concept,professional ability,social capital,and career planning.Based on the theoretical analysis of sociology and educational psychology,this paper puts forward targeted suggestions and countermeasures from the three levels of society,school,individual and family. |
