Homework is an important part of the teaching process,a natural extension and necessary supplement to classroom teaching content,an effective way to achieve curriculum and educational goals,and a hub connecting "teaching" and "evaluation".Its importance is self-evident.Reducing the burden on primary and secondary schools has been a focus and difficult issue in the field of basic education in the past 20 years,and most of the burden reduction measures propose opinions and suggestions to reduce students’ homework burden.In 2021,the country issued the "double reduction" policy,which requires reducing the total amount of homework,controlling the duration of homework,and reducing the heavy workload on students.Improving homework design ability is a breakthrough point in implementing the "double reduction" policy.Taking students as the foundation,following the spirit of the curriculum standards,moving from quantification to quality,and meticulously designing middle school Chinese homework that conforms to the spirit of "double reduction",in order to enhance students’ core Chinese literacy and implement the fundamental task of cultivating morality and talent.This article first elaborates on the background of "double reduction" in the design of Chinese homework for junior high school students,clarifies the theoretical basis of Chinese homework design,which includes the theory of multiple intelligences,the theory of the zone of proximal development,and the theory of constructivism.It also understands the principles that Chinese homework design should follow,the principles of purposefulness,systematicness,guidance,practicality,and stratification.Subsequently,a survey questionnaire was designed at three levels:teachers,students,and parents,with a focus on investigating the current situation of Chinese homework in two junior high schools in G city.Through data analysis,it was found that teachers and parents have a high level of recognition for the "double reduction" policy.However,there are problems with high quantity,single form,uniformity,and extra homework assigned by parents in Chinese homework in junior high schools,The main reasons for this situation are: weak design awareness of teachers,heavy workload of teachers,and lack of time to consider layered homework.Finally,on the basis of elucidating the current situation of theory and homework,in response to the current problems,this paper proposes strategies for designing junior high school Chinese homework from six aspects: strictly controlling the amount and time of homework,selecting content,building learning scaffolds,designing unit assignments,enriching homework forms,advocating personalized and layered homework,and proposes suggestions for improving the quality of homework from three dimensions: normal universities,primary and secondary schools,and education departments.
